| É feita a determinação da quantidade média (g) de biomassa foliar consumida por 1 g (peso seco) de gafanhoto/dia nesta espécie. O material para a realização dos experimentos foi coletado na ilha de Marchantaria (várzea - Rio Solimões) perto de Manaus. Os animais testados foram agrupados por estádio ninfal (ninfas iniciais (I+II), médias (111+lV) e finais (V+VI)) e os adultos pelo sexo (machos, fêmeas, machos+fêmeas). A planta utilizada como alimento foi Paspalwn repens, macrófita aquática das Poaceac, onde Stenacrisf. fissicaudadesenvolve o seu ciclo vital. | O Rio Xingu possui um grande potencial hidrelétrico, especificamente na região da Volta da Grande, onde será instalada a Hidrelétrica de Belo Monte. Para a implementação desse empreendimento, foi necessário o estudo de impacto ambiental, considerando a fauna, flora e os aspectos sociais. Com o objetivo de realizar a análise faunística das espécies de gafanhotos da Área de Influência Direta do Empreendimento Belo Monte, realizou-se um inventário, utilizando-se rede entomológica no período de novembro/2007 a agosto/2008. Foram coletados 2652 gafanhotos pertencentes a três famílias, 10 subfamílias, 18 tribos, 42 gêneros e 71 espécies. | ABSTRACT: Grasshoppers of the families Acrididae and Romaleidae (Orthoptera) are among the insects that defoliate heliconias and have been gaining status as pests of commercial crops of these plants in Brazil. The objectives of the present study were to identify the grasshopper defoliating heliconias in the municipality of Santo Antônio de Pádua, RJ (Brazil), to evaluate the effect of different levels of shade on the population of this grasshopper and the production parameters of heliconias, and to determine if this grasshopper has an oviposition preference among the heliconias evaluated. | Com o objetivo de verificar a flutuação populacional de gafanhotos na Floresta Nacional de Chapecó (FLONA), em Santa Catarina, foram realizadas coletas semanais durante o período de dezembro de 2003 a dezembro de 2004 com armadilhas do tipo pit-fall, rede de varredura, guarda-chuva entomológico e malaise. Os picos populacionais para a maioria das espécies ocorreram durante os meses de dezembro, janeiro e fevereiro. A análise de regressão (5%) apontou relação significativa entre os fatores climáticos e os níveis populacionais de Allotruxalis gracilis (Giglio-Tos, 1897), Parorphula graminea Bruner, 1900, Rhammatocerus brunneri (Giglio Tos, 1895) e Xyleus discoideus discoideus (Serville, 1831). |

| Sinds de eerste waarnemingen, in het begin van de jaren 1990, wordt de zuidelijke boomsprinkhaan op steeds meer locaties in Nederland waargenomen. Hoewel de soort ook voorkomt in het buitengebied, lijkt de verspreiding zich grotendeels te beperken tot het stedelijke milieu. Bij een gerichte inventarisatie in de stad Utrecht in het najaar van 2008 is de soort in alle bezochte kilometerhokken aangetroffen. Het is nu een van de meest voorkomende sprinkhanen in de stad Utrecht. Klimaatverandering en passief transport door verkeer over de weg zijn waarschijnlijk de belangrijkste factoren voor de recente uitbreiding in Nederland en Noordwest-Europa. |

| Morphological and cytogenetic analyses of a spontaneous gynandromorph of Pycnogaster inermis, found in a natural population in the Spanish Sierra Nevada, have shown that the left side was male and the right side female, with almost perfect bilateral symmetry. Ventral valves of the ovipositor were very short, appearing as two spurs; dorsal valves were longer but still shorter than normal. The specimen had an apparently normal testis on the left side and a well-developed ovary on the right side. Cytogenetic analysis revealed the presence of 2n = 28 + X0 chromosomes in the testis and 2n = 28 + XX in the ovary, the same as standard males and females, respectively, of this species. The vast majority of those species which have altered their ranges since 1850 have spread to the north, north-west or west (e.g. 96% of the Lepidoptera expanding their ranges). | The expansion of Conocephalus discolor in the southern part of the province of Limburg (Orthoptera: Tettigoniidae) The range of Conocephalus discolor (Thunberg, 1815) in northwestern Europe and Britain has expanded substantially during the last decades. The species is known from the Netherlands since 1990 but was not found in the southern part of the province of Limburg until 1997.
