AUSÊNCIA DE MICORRIZAS VESÍCULO-ARBUSCULARES EFETIVAS EM LECYTHIDACEAS NUMA ÁREA DE FLORESTA PRIMÁRIA DA AMAZÔNIA CENTRAL. Acta Amazonica

Pereira, Marcos Gervasio; Guareschi, Roni Fernandes; Perin, Adriano.
The objective of this study was to evaluate the forms of iron extracted as sodium dithionite-citrate-bicarbonate (Fed), acid ammonium oxalate (Feo) and sodium pyrophosphate (Fep) and the relationship between these variables and the total organic carbon content and maximum adsorption capacity of P (MACP). The areas selected for this study had been using a no-tillage system (NTS) for varying periods of time: 3 years (NTS3), 15 years (NTS15) and 20 years (NTS20). These areas were compared with an area of native ‘Cerrado’ (CE) and a pasture area planted with Brachiaria decumbens (PA). The soil of the areas studied was classified as dystrophic oxisol. In each area, samples were collected at 0–5 cm and 5–10 cm. A correlation was observed between the C content...

Effects of nickel fertilization on soybean growth in tropical soils Bragantia
Levy,Camila de Carvalho Braga; Mellis,Estêvão Vicari; Murrer,Marina Krey; Inglés,Carlos Repiso; Daynes,Cathal N.; Cavalli,Edilson; Chiba,Marcio Koiti.
ABSTRACT Although nickel (Ni) is recognized as plant nutrient since the turn of the 21st century, uncertainty remains about its optimum application rates and forms. This paper focuses on Ni application in soils, relating to its effect as a plant micronutrient. Specifically, the effect of Ni on the activity of urease in soybean plants is examined. The effects of applying four Ni rates in two different soil types were tested. A full factorial 2 × 4 blocked design experiment was established under controlled conditions. Ni rates (0, 0.25, 0.5 and1.0 mg of Ni·kg–1 of soil) were applied in two soils with contrasting clay contents. The addition of Ni increased the urease activity in soybean plants but was affected by soil textural differences. The highest urease...

Brandani,Carolina Braga; Kühl,Amanda Santos; Ilario,Vicenzo Enrico; Pitombo,Leonardo Machado; Ferreira-Filho,Pedro José; Pereira,Elisabete Alves; Oliveira,Luciana Camargo; Carmo,Janaina Braga do.
ABSTRACT The generation of sewage sludge and the concern with their fate has greatly increased. The objective of this study was to assess the effects of using in natura (SS) or composted sewage sludge (SSC) in comparison with mineral fertilizer (MF) application and a control (CT) treatment on the nutritional status of Guanandi (Calophyllum brasiliense Cambess.) seedlings in a typical Red Oxisol in Brazil. The leaf-level nutritional responses of the Guanandi seedlings to these three different fertilizers and the control were evaluated at 90 and 180 days after planting. Nutritional data of leaf variables were compared between the treatments by means of one-way analysis of variance using the F test and a pair-wise comparison of means done by Tukey’s test. The...

Growth of rice plants in an Acrustox fertilized with silicon and manganese Ciência Rural
Zanão Júnior,Luiz Antônio; Fontes,Renildes Lúcio Ferreira; Korndörfer,Gaspar Henrique; Ávila,Vinícius Tavares de; Carvalho-Zanão,Maristela Pereira.
The objective of this research was to study the biomass production, plant architecture and Si and Mn uptake in rice plants cultivated in a Acrustox fertilized with silicon and manganese. The experiment was carried out in a greenhouse using a 2x5 factorial (0 and 1000mg dm-3 Si x 0, 4, 12, 16 and 20mg dm-3 Mn) with four replications, in a randomized block design. The application of Si to the soil resulted in a smaller leaf insertion angle, a greater Si content in the leaves and roots and biomass production. Moreover, Si caused the decrease content of Mn in leaves and its increase in roots. With the rising dose of Mn, there was an increase in the content of this element in soil, roots and leaves, regardless of the Si application and reduction in biomass...

Correcao do solo e adubacao da cultura da soja. Infoteca-e
SOUSA, D. M. G. de; LOBATO, E..
In order to grow soybeans in cerrado soils it is necessary a previous, reduction of soil acidity and to build up the soil fertility. It is recommended the application of limestone to raise the soil pH up to the range between 5,5 and 6,0 or to increase base saturation up to 50%. The chemical constraints for root growth in the subsurface soil layers, such as the high aluminum saturation and/or calcium defficiency, can be overcome by the addition of gypsum. The recomended levels of gypsum vary from 700 kg/ha for sandy soils to 3200 kg/ha for heavy clayey soils. Fertilizers to supply phosphorus and potassium are recommended according to their availability in the soil determined by chemical analysis. Critical levels for those nutrients as well as the...

Mineralogia, estrutura e comportamento físico-hídrico de Latossolos brasileiros e comparação com solos de regiões temperadas. Infoteca-e
OTTONI, M. V.; SOUZA, L. R.; BARBOSA, S. M.; ANDRADE, R.; TEIXEIRA, W. G.; INDA, A. V.; CURI, N..
The association between the mineralogy of the clay fraction, the structure and the physico-hydraulic behavior of the Brazilian Latosols (Oxisols) is addressed here in a global, simple, objective, and instructive context. The simplicity of the mineralogical composition of the clay fraction of Latosols facilitates the understanding of cause and effect relationships in this context. Higher kaolinite contents favor the manifestation of the blocky structure, resulting in higher bulk density values, lower water infiltration rates, and lower potential aquifer recharge. Conversely, higher levels of gibbsite and Fe-oxide minerals (mainly hematite and goethite), in this order, favor the small granular structure of high stability in the subsurface horizon (B) of the...

Role of soil carbon in the landscape functioning of the Alto São Bartolomeu watershed in the Cerrado region, Brazil PAB
Alves,Ray Pinheiro; Couto Junior,Antonio Felipe; Martins,Eder de Souza; Nardoto,Gabriela Bielefeld.
Abstract The objective of this work was to evaluate the effect of soil carbon on landscape functioning of the Oxisols covering the plateaus of the Alto São Bartolomeu watershed, in the Cerrado (Brazilian savanna) region of Central Brazil. Soil organic carbon (SOC) concentration, carbon stocks, and some soil physical and chemical characteristics were determined at the 0-0.20-m depth on native and anthropogenic areas. Soils from cerrado stricto sensu patches were similar both physically and chemically, being affected by exchangeable Al3+ and by SOC concentrations, while anthropogenic matrices were affected by soil bulk density, pH, extractable P, and exchangeable Ca2+ and Mg2+. The estimate of spatial distribution of soil carbon better fitted had an adjusted...
