The search for decision-making tools is essential in order to control agricultural practices and plan for sustainable agriculture that respects the environment. To this end, FAO has developed an evaluation model called AquaCrop, which covers most technical routes, including fertilization. In this perspective, this study focuses on the AquaCrop model (v6.1) to calibrate it for the simulation of lettuce crop yields (Lactuca sativa L), under different fertilization levels for the trial periods (2015/2016) and (2016/2017). Four levels of fertilization were examined under rain conditions, namely T1 (0 kg N/ha), T2 (60 kg N/ha), T3 (120 kg N/ha) and T4 (180 kg N/ha). The model performance was evaluated using the coefficient of determination (R2), the square root... |

In drip irrigation systems the lateral lines are the pipes on which the emitters are installed. The accurate design of drip irrigation laterals needs to determine the total energy losses that include the pipe friction losses along the lateral line and minor losses due to emitter connections. A friendly user interface computer application named EGY-DRIP had developed for drip irrigation system design. The program had written in Microsoft visual basic 2013 to carry out hydraulic calculations of drip irrigation sub-unit design. The hydraulic calculation based on inputs of water properties, quality, soil characteristics, reference evapotranspiration, crop factors, and irrigation system components (drippers, pipes, and fittings). The program supported with an... |

ABSTRACT A high-performance liquid chromatography with ultraviolet detection (HPLC-UV) method was validated for the study of bioactive amines in chicken meat. A gradient elution system with an ultraviolet detector was used after extraction with trichloroacetic acid and pre-column derivatization with dansyl chloride. Putrescine, cadaverine, histamine, tyramine, spermidine, and spermine standards were used for the evaluation of the following performance parameters: selectivity, linearity, precision, recovery, limits of detection, limits of quantification and ruggedness. The results indicated excellent selectivity, separation of all amines, a coefficient of determination greater than 0.99 and recovery from 92.25 to 102.25% at the concentration of 47.2mg.kg-1,... |

The development and validation of a simple and accurate method based on HPLC with ultraviolet detection for the quantification of zidovudine in rat plasma and its application to a pharmacokinetic study following a single intranasal dose zidovudine is described. Zidovudine was extracted from the plasma using a single-step deproteinization. Chromatographic separation of zidovudine from interfering components was achieved with a C-18 reverse phase column, a mobile phase consisting of a mixture of sodium acetate buffer (55mM) with pH adjusted to 7.0 and acetonitrile (91:9 v/v) and UV detection set at 265 nm. The method was linear from 100 to 10000 ng.mL"¹ (r² > 0.9995), and zidovudine had a mean recovery from plasma of 92.8%. The coefficient of variation of... |

In recent years, crop models have increasingly been used to simulate agricultural features. The DSSAT (Decision Support System for Agrotechnology Transfer) is an important tool in modeling growth; however, one of its limitations is related to the unaccounted-for effect of diseases. Therefore, the goals of this study were to calibrate and validate the CSM CROPGRO-Soybean for the soybean cultivars M-SOY 6101 and MG/BR 46 (Conquista), analyze the performance and the effect of Asian soybean rust on these cultivars under the environmental conditions of Viçosa, Minas Gerais, Brazil. The experimental data for the evaluation, testing, and adjustment of the genetic coefficients for the cultivars, M-SOY 6101 and MG/BR 46 (Conquista), were obtained during the... |

Method validation is the process used to confirm that the analytical procedures employed for a specific test is able to produce reliable and replicable results. An analytical method should be conducted in order to demonstrate that it is suitable for its intended use [1]. The aim of this present work is to demonstrate and evaluate the suitability of method validation. The analytical validation discussed herein was conducted by prescribed protocol, using 3 different batches of measles's vaccine diluents. All of the stipulated validation parameters: linearity, repeatability, reproducibility (intermediate precision) and accuracy were met. Additionally, this study demonstrated the method's capability for the determining endotoxin levels in measles's vaccine... |

The objective of this work was to validate the spectrophotometric method to detect and quantify nitrite using ham pate as a source. The validated analytical conditions were 540 nm wavelength and the samples reading between 40 to 70 minutes after addition of coloring agents. The tested performance criteria were: linearity, matrix effect, selectivity, detection and quantification limit, accuracy, precision and robustness. As the results have obtained linearity in the studied zone (0.125 to 3 g/mL) and matrix effect was not observed, there was not any interference from ascorbic acid, but interference occurred from sodium eritorbate, in concentrations above 2.5 mg/100g. The detection limit was defined as 12.5 mg of nitrite/kg for pate and the quantification... |

ABSTRACT Diseases caused by insects are frequent in poor countries, leading to epidemic scenarios in urban areas; e.g., Dengue, Zika and Chikungunya. For this reason, the development of a safe and efficient topical formulation is essential. Ethyl butylacetylaminopropionate (EB) is a mosquito repellent developed by Merck, which is used in products for adults, children and especially babies, due to its low allergenic potential. The aim of this work was to validate an analytical methodology to quantify EB in a new poloxamer-based formulation by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). The quantification methodology was performed at 40 ºC using a Kromasil reverse-phase column (C18), with the dimensions of 250 x 4.6 mm. The mobile phase was... |
