Lorensini, Felipe; Ceretta, Carlos Alberto; Lourenzi, Cledimar Rogério; De Conti, Lessandro; Tiecher, Tadeu Luis; Trentin, Gustavo; Brunetto, Gustavo.
Grapevines grown on sandy soils are subjected to the application of supplemental nitrogen (N); however, there is little information available regarding the impact of these applications on yield, plant nutritional state and must composition. The aim of this study was to evaluate the yield, nutritional state and must composition of grapevines subjected to N fertilization. Cabernet Sauvignon grapevines were subjected to annual applications of 0, 10, 15, 20, 40, 80 and 120 kg N ha-1 in 2008, 2009 and 2010. During the 2008/09, 2009/10 and 2010/11 harvest seasons, leaves were collected during full flowering and when the berries changed color, and the total N content was analyzed. The grape yield and the enological characteristics of the must were evaluated. The...

Effect of salt stress on physiology and agronomy characterstic of barley cultivars CIGR Journal
sorkhi, farshad.
In most northwest provinces of Iran such as West Azarbaijan province, soil salinity is a growing problem, particularly in irrigated agricultural areas, and has been found to reduce barley yield, dramatically. To investigate the effect of sodium chloride on two barley (Hordeum vulgare) cultivars, four levels of salinity: 0, 4, 8 and 12 dS/m, were employed as a factorial experiment arranged in a completely randomized design with three replications in a controlled environment of the greenhouse during 2017-2018. The results indicated that increasing salinity from 0 to 12 dS/m, decreased the emergence percentage significantly. Two cultivars of Zarjoo and Valfajr responded differently to salinity, so that Zarjoo showed a significantly higher emergence rate. This...

BIOLOGICAL RESPONSEVINESS OF BEANS UNDER DIFFERENT SOIL WATER REGIMES AT PROTECTED ENVIRONMENT CONDITIONS IN SOUTHERN BRAZIL CIGR Journal
Domingues, Rafael; Pereira, André Belmont; Schiebelbein, Luis Miguel; Rosa, Jadir Aparecido; Barbosa, Eduardo Augusto Agnellos; Pires, Luiz Fernando.
Climatic conditions and soil water requirement notably impinge upon agriculture in such a way as to galvanize scientists to come up with advanced research in order to assure a more sustainable production at a given site. Under protected environmental conditions water is the main factor to be controlled aiming at maximization of yield and grade of agricultural products. The productive potential of a crop is extremely conditioned by the local atmospheric conditions along with requirements for water and nutrients in the soil. The aim of the current work was to scrutinize the effect of soil water status on the ecophysiological parameters and yield components of two cultivars of beans (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) under tropical climatic conditions. The experiment...

Ayed,Sourour; Rezgui,Mohsen; Othmani,Afef; Rezgui,Mounir; Trad,Hiba; Silva,Jaime A. Teixeira-da; Ben Younes,Mongi; Ben Salah,Hamadi; Kharrat,Mohamed.
Abstract Wheat is a staple crop in Tunisia, but little is known about the response of Tunisian durum wheat (Triticum turgidumssp.durum) and bread wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) to water stress. In semi-arid regions, where cereals are concentrated, grain yield is subject to water deficit especially due to variability in rainfall. Therefore, the objective of this study was to evaluate the response to water stress of three durum wheat (Mâali, Nasr and Salim) and two bread wheat (Tahent and Utique) varieties. The experimental design was a complete randomized block, water treatments were rainfed conditions (T0) and irrigation applied at the tillering and flowering stages (T1, control) with three replications per treatment, and data was analyzed by ANOVA and Tukey...

Genetic variation and interrelationships of agronomic characteristics in durum wheat under two constructing water regimes BABT
Talebi,Reza; Fayyaz,Farzad; Naji,Amir Mohammad.
This work aimed to study the grain yield components and plant characteristics related to grain yield. Twenty-four durum wheat genotypes from the ICARDA durum wheat breeding program were grown during 2006-2007 under rainfed and irrigated conditions using a complete randomized block design with three replicate in west of Iran. Correlation and path analysis were carried out. Results showed that there was strong positive association of grain yield with the number of seed/spike, biomass and harvest index. Grain yield was negatively associated with spike length and plant height in different moisture conditions. Comparatively, high genetic variation was found in grain yield and other characteristics. Hierarchical cluster analysis was used as a tool to classify...

Reaction of wheat genotypes to soil aluminum differential saturations BABT
Costa,Antonio; Campos,Luís Alberto Cogrossi; Riede,Carlos Roberto.
Ten wheat (Triticum aestivum) genotypes were evaluated in microplots with aluminum saturation of 0, 15, 30 and 45%, during 1994, in Londrina, Paraná, Brazil. The soil was a Distrofic Red Latosol (Typic Haplorthox), with 65% saturation of aluminum, amended with dolomitic lime. Variables evaluated included grain yield and yield components: ears.m-2, grains.ear-1 and the weight of 1000 grains. Genotypes differed in yield and yield components. Increasing aluminum saturation decreased yield, ears.m-2 and grains.ear-1, but did not alter thousand kernel weight. The genotypes reacted differently in relation to the toxic soil aluminum. Anahuac and IAPAR 29 were aluminum sensitive; OCEPAR 16, Trigo BR 18, and Trigo BR 23 were moderately sensitive; IAPAR 6, IAPAR 53,...

Effects of the size of sown seed on growth and yield of common bean cultivars of different seed sizes Braz. J. Plant Physiol.
Lima,Elvis Rodrigues; Santiago,Aline Silva; Araújo,Adelson Paulo; Teixeira,Marcelo Grandi.
A field experiment was conducted to evaluate the effects of planting different sizes of seed of the same cultivar on biomass accumulation and grain yield of common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) cultivars of different seed sizes. A 6 X 2 split-plot factorial design with four replicates was employed, with six bean cultivars as main plots and two seed sizes (small and large, the latter twice as heavy as the former) of the same cultivar as subplots. Eight weekly samplings of biomass were performed, and yield components were measured at maturity. Large seeds increased the leaf area index and the shoot and root biomass of bean cultivars, particularly at the beginning of the growth cycle, but they did not affect the pod biomass. Improved growth associated with the...

Double purpose wheat: correlation analysis of forage yield components Ciencia e Investigación Agraria
Morant,Alicia; Merchán,Héctor; Lutz,Eugenio.
The direct and relative contribution of characters associated with forage production were evaluated in a comparative assay of wheat cultivars to contribute to an ideotype defnition when selecting double purpose material for forage and grain production. Simple correlations for all of the possible combinations among the measured variables were calculated. The correlation partition method, known as path coeffcient, was applied to determine the causes of this association and to measure the relative importance of each factor. Forage production during the vegetative period was measured for each variety at the dates in which the apex reached the double ridge state (3 - 4 in the Nerson scale). The double ridge state was considered the deadline of the vegetative...
