Metabolism intensity and changes in the body composition are compared in mollusks of different size (different age): Mytilus galloprovincialis L. and Rapana thomasiana Crosse. It is shown that changes in the ratio of the body components (fresh and dry mass of the body, mantle fluid, shell) and in the protein content in Mytilus galloprovincialis L. and Rapana thomasiana Crosse groups of different size are of different character and connected with the age peculiarities of the mollusks. The mentioned changes in the body composition do not affect a regular decrease in the metabolism intensity with an increase in the animal mass. However, the relative protein content in the body of mussels of different size group correlates with the rate of their metabolism... |
