| This study was intended to calculate average weights of pelagic larvae of anchovy, gobies and some other fishes collected from three seas and two bays. Larvae of the anchovy Engraulis encrasicholus L. were collected from different areas of the Black Sea, the Sea of Azov and the Adriatic Sea, and larvae of Gobiidae, Callionymus festivus Pal. and Lepadogaster – from the Sevastopol and Kamyshovaya bays. Average weight was determined by direct weighing of the fish fry and larvae fixed in formaldehyde; earlier experiments have proven that using this procedure does not provoke changes in the weight of fixed organisms (Borutsky, 1934a). Results of the investigation are given in Tables 1 – 7. |
