The research in granulometric composition of bottom sediments of the Black sea littoral zone and allochthonic hydrocarbons concentrated in them revealed a dependence of the latter on availability of coarse-pelitic (0.005-0.01 mm) and fine-aleuritic (0.01-0.05 mm) dimensions of certain mineralogical and substance composition.

Bottom sediments and macrozoobenthos were observed in the bays and adjacent open-sea areas of the south-western Crimean extremity. The investigations show a tendency of the bottom sediments to accumulate highly carbonized chloroform bitumoid and to increase zoobenthos biomass mainly due to the mollusk Tritia reticulata, polychaeta biomass reduced everywhere. Changes over a 6-year period appeared to be insignificant, which evidences for a relative ecological stability.

The article deals with studies in the physicochemical properties as well as in group composition of organic substance and bitumoids. In the Black sea shelf littoral zone bottom sediments. Sands and shell deposits, as compared with mud are shown to contain metamorphosed organic substance. Bottom sediments influenced by the anthropogenic factor are stated to concentrate bituminized organic substance whereas bitumoids are traced to increase in their composition hydrocarbon component content and to decrease that of asphalt and resin. The amount of chloroform-extracted compounds in the sediments is tens and hundreds times as much. Hydrocarbon composition of bottom sediments was studied in some bays in the south-western part of Crimea. The content of bitumoids in mud influenced by anthropogenic factor is one-two orders higher than that in the open sea sediments. Oils predominate in the bitumoids of the littoral mud. Their amount is three times as high as compared to bitumoids in the open sea. Oil accumulation is accompanied by the concentration of methane-naphthene hydrocarbons and decrease of heterocyclic hydrocarbons. Alkanes, both normal and isoprenoid, appear to be ten times as high in such sediments as in those of the open littoral zone. Pristane and phytane account for a third of isoprenoids.

The study was made for macrozoobenthos of bottom sediments filling spaces between rocks. Four bays influenced by the anthropogenic factors of different intensity are compared with the open sea coast. Bottom sediments belong to carbonate organic debris sand ones and are characterized by the large size grains, low natural humidity (less than 40%), positive redox potential, weak alkali environmental reaction, relatively low accumulation of allochthonic substances. As compared with fine-grained bottom sediments of the same regions they are inhabited by a richer, as to species and quantity, macrozoobenthos represented mainly by sestonophages. The anthropogenic influence increases the content of ammonium nitrogen and chloroform-soluble substance bottom sediments...
