The levels of nitrogen excretion and oxygen uptake are compared in the marine invertebrates: squids, octopuses, isopods, euphausiids and salps. They are expressed by the quantitative exponential equations. both indexes are in similar dependence on the body mass and animals activity. The ratio between the values of nitrogen excretion and oxygen uptake is calculated and the portion of oxygen spent for protein oxidation is determined. |

The rate of the total nitrogen excretion by Nereis diversicolor Muller was studied. It was shown that this value correlates with body weight and is described by functional equation N = 0.82*W^0.63, where W - dry body weight, N - nitrogen excretion in mg/day. The relation between the rates of nitrogen excretion and oxygen consumption was expressed by equation N/Q = 0.078*W^-0.1. Our analysis of the data in literature shows that the correlation between nitrogen excretion and body weight exists also in all Vermes phylum. This suggests that the above mentioned correlation is manifested in animals regardless their belonging to different systematic position and age groups. |

The intensity of nitrogen excretion is determined in Cephalopoda (octopuses, squids), Crustacea (isopods, euphausiids), Tunicata subphylum (salps) and fish fry. The measuring were carried out at a natural summer temperature of the animals existence. The excretion levels are expressed by the quantitative exponential equations. It is shown that the highest nitrogen excretion is in Cephalopoda and the least one in salps. Differences of the body composition of investigated species of animals are analysed; the relation is discussed between the excretion levels, mobility and composition of the body. |

Metabolism intensity and changes in the body composition are compared in mollusks of different size (different age): Mytilus galloprovincialis L. and Rapana thomasiana Crosse. It is shown that changes in the ratio of the body components (fresh and dry mass of the body, mantle fluid, shell) and in the protein content in Mytilus galloprovincialis L. and Rapana thomasiana Crosse groups of different size are of different character and connected with the age peculiarities of the mollusks. The mentioned changes in the body composition do not affect a regular decrease in the metabolism intensity with an increase in the animal mass. However, the relative protein content in the body of mussels of different size group correlates with the rate of their metabolism... |
