The experimental study of marine animal nutrition raises a number of technical issues, especially that of food distribution, when it is supplied in the form of pellets with a low water content. Hand feeding has different disadvantages. Farmers have indeed to supply an increasing number (for experimental purposes) of batches, several times per day and at regular intervals, with various types of food of well-defined quantities. Thus, many hours are dedicated each day to feeding. Moreover, the large number of interventions implied influences the fishes' behaviour. |
