Potencial uso de espectroscopia de reflectancia en el infrarrojo cercano (NIRS) para identificación de charqui de bovino, llama y caballo Veterinaria México
Mamani-Linares,Willy; Alomar,Daniel; Gallo,Carmen.

In situ rumen degradation kinetics as affected by type of pasture and date of harvest Scientia Agricola
Keim,Juan Pablo; Valderrama,Ximena; Alomar,Daniel; López,Ignacio Fernando.
Botanical composition affects the nutritive value and nutrient degradation kinetics of pastures. However, there is little information about pastures composed of various species. The present study was conducted to evaluate in situ degradation kinetics of dry matter (DM), crude protein (CP) and neutral detergent fiber (NDF) of a naturalized non fertilized pasture (NNF), naturalized fertilized pasture (NF), sown pasture with Lolium perenne L. and Trifolium repens L. (RGWC), and sown pasture with Bromus valdivianus Phil., Dactylis glomerata L., Holcus lanatus L., L. perenne and T. repens (MIXED); at three dates of harvest (early-spring, mid-spring and autumn). Duplicate bags were incubated in the rumen of three cannulated cows for 2, 4, 8, 12, 24 or 48 h....

Prediction of the Composition of Fresh Pastures by Near Infrared Reflectance or Interactance-Reflectance Spectroscopy Chilean J. Agric. Res.
Alomar,Daniel; Fuchslocher,Rita; Cuevas,José; Mardones,Rodrigo; Cuevas,Emilio.
Fast and precise analytical tools can contribute to optimize pasture management decisions. This work was carried out to evaluate the potential of one such technique, near infrared spectroscopy (NIRS), to predict the nutritional value of pastures without previous drying of the samples, comparing two forms of collecting the spectra: reflectance, or interactance-reflectance (fiber optic probe). Samples (n = 107) from different swards were taken across the humid and temperate regions (Los Ríos and Los Lagos) of southern Chile. Once their spectra were collected, dry matter (DM) and several chemical constituents, such as crude protein (CP), metabolizable energy (ME), neutral (NDF) and acid detergent fiber (ADF), soluble carbohydrates (SC), soluble crude protein...

Prediction of the Chemical Composition and Fermentation Parameters of Pasture Silage by Near Infrered Reflectance Spectroscopy (NIRS) Chilean J. Agric. Res.
Ibáñez,Lorena; Alomar,Daniel.
The capability of near infrared reflectance spectroscopy (NIRS) was evaluated to predict the content of total ash (TA), crude protein (CP), crude fiber (CF), neutral detergent fiber (NDF), acid detergent fiber (ADF) and metabolizable energy (ME); as well as pH and ammonia nitrogen content (N-NH3), in pasture silage, with and without additives. Nine hundred and twenty dried and ground samples of pasture silage, with known chemical composition, were scanned over the visible and NIR region (400 to 2500 nm) at 2 nm intervals. Calibration equations were developed by modified partial least square regression models (MPLS) with different mathematical treatments and light scatter correction as standard normal variation and Detrend (SNV & D) of the spectra....

Pepsin-Cellulase Digestibility of Pasture Silages: Effects of Pasture Type, Maturity Stage, and Variations in the Enzymatic Method Chilean J. Agric. Res.
Barchiesi-Ferrari,Claudia; Alomar,Daniel; Miranda,Horacio.
Enzymatic in vitro digestibility has been studied as a method to predict energy values of forages for ruminants, although results have been affected by type of forage and methodological details of the technique. This work was performed to evaluate the effects of cellulase concentration (0.75, 1.0 and 6.25 g L-1), incubation time (24 or 48 h) and type of final washing of the residue (water or acetone) on the in vitro digestibility of the dry matter (DMD), organic matter (OMD) and content of digestible organic matter in the DM (D value) of silages made at three maturity stages from three types of pastures: a) permanent pasture (Dactylis glomerata, Lolium perenne, Bromus catharticus Vahl var. catharticus, Trifolium repens and Holcus lanatus); b) Italian...

Use of Cellulases to Predict in vivo Digestible Organic Matter (D value) in Pasture Silages Chilean J. Agric. Res.
Barchiesi-Ferrari,Claudia; Alomar,Daniel; Miranda,Horacio.
In pasture-based dairy herds where silage is a widely adopted supplement, optimized feeding requires reliable estimations of nutritional quality of this conserved forage. Metabolizable energy, an important nutritional fraction, can be predicted from digestibility-related traits, such as the digestible organic matter contained in the dry matter (D-value). The aim of the present study was to evaluate the prediction of D-value and dry matter digestibility (DMD) of grass silages made from four different pastures and maturity stages, using the pepsin-cellulase method. Fungal cellulase was used, applying different enzyme concentrations, incubation times and types of final wash. The silages were prepared from permanent pasture (Dactylis glomerata L., Lolium...
