The trachea is a tubular structure that extends from the body of the axis to the fifth thoracic vertebra, where it then branches in the main bronchi, on the base of the heart. Although rare in dogs and cats, there are reports of intraluminal tracheal mass, either non-neoplastic, benign, or neoplastic malignant masses, which may even cause dynamic obstruction of the trachea. Radiography is a very useful technique for identifying and defining lower respiratory tract disease, including contrasting techniques that delineate the trachea. In this case report, a female dog of the Great Dane breed, two years old, was treated for a chest x-ray, whose main complaint was severe cough. Simple and contrasted radiographs were performed, where it was possible to observe... |

The urinary bladder infection, having glucose-fermentingmicroorganisms such as pathogens is the disease called asemphysematous cystitis. These microorganism are ableto produce balls of gas in the bladder lumen. The mostfrequent bacteria associated with this pathology are: Proteussp, Aerobacteraerogenous, Escherichia coli and Clostridiumspp. The causes are nonspecific and are usually secondary toseveral conditions as diabetes mellitus, hyperadrenocorticism, anatomical defects, urolithiasis, tumours, prolongedcorticosteroid therapy, bladder wall thickening caused by chronicinflammation, and not ruling out the possibility of reportsin dogs not diabetic. The clinical sings are also nonspecific:dysuria, hematuria, urinary frequency, abdominal pain,apathy.... |

Exocrine pancreatic insufficiency (EPI), a common disease indogs, is mainly caused by pancreatic acinar atrophy, followedby chronic pancreatitis and pancreatic duct obstruction, withconsequent inadequate secretion of pancreatic enzymes. The present paper is a case report observed in a male eightyear-old dog that had the diagnosis of EPI suggested by thefecal proteolytic activity test (X-ray film proof). To date, thetreatment given with pancreatic enzyme supplementation andadequate diet has been able to promote the resolution of theclinical condition. |
