Intercropping is a common practice in the majority of small farms in Brazil. Most of corn and common bean are cropped in intercropping system. This study was developed during two years, in order to evaluate the productive efficiency of intercropping corn – common bean system. Different populations of plants in relation to monocropping were used in a soil, originally under savannah vegetation and previously cultivated with rice, in a randomized complete block design with four replications. Results showed that intercropping did not affect corn agronomic characteristics. Corn BR-201 cultivar was better than Tractor. Stand of 50,000 plants ha-1 had better results for corn agronomic characteristics |
