This trend goes also for agriculture; globalization, climate change, the increase in population and food demand, and the decrease of land used for food production at the same time cause problems that can be solved by means of sciences. The year 2007 was the beginning of a new era in agriculture and rural development. The financial period of 2007-2013 presents an essentially new situation in the European Union, so agricultural universities, high schools and research institutes, as well as market operators must undertake serious changes. Az éghajlatváltozás globális hatásainak Európa is kiszolgáltatott. Így megnövekedett annak az igénye, hogy az Európai Unió adaptációs és mitigációs intézkedéseket építsen be szakpolitikáiba. Hosszabb távra azonban összehangolt és megfelelő pénzügyi háttérrel rendelkező EU-s klímastratégia szükséges. A megváltozó éghajlat kulcstényező az európai mezőgazdaság és vidék fejlődésében, ezért a közeljövő Közös Agrárpolitikáját (KAP) már ehhez javasolt igazítani. A fenntartható termelést elősegítik a 2007–2013-as EU-s vidékfejlesztési intézkedések, melyek nagy része a mitigációt is ösztönzi. Ezért az EU további vidékfejlesztési többletforrásokat csoportosított az éghajlatváltozás okozta hatások mérséklésére és az adaptáció növelésére. Véleményem szerint az EU... The Common Agricultural Policy of the EU has been a dominant factor in the development of the Hungarian agricultural economy for several years; and it will continue to be in the years to come. CAP is in a state of continuous change; it is constantly being reformed and developed. In relation to this, the common budget of the enlarged European Union should cover the finances of the existing Community policies, and meet the criteria of enhancing competitiveness. A megújítható energiaforrások szerepének növelésében katalizátorszerepet betöltő Európai Unió már a 80-as évek elején megoldást keresett a túltermelés következtében felhalmozódott szántóföldi termékek felhasználására.
