Abstract: The objective of this work was to simulate the bands of the WorldView-2 sensor from laboratory specters, in order to study its potential to detect iron oxides, besides proposing a spectral index based on the depth of the spectral feature (RHGtPf). The iron index (IFe) and the hematite index (IHm), developed by Madeira Netto for bands of Landsat TM-5 sensor, were adjusted for WorldView-2 to test the potential of the new yellow band. The results showed that the yellow band degrades to 2% compared to the red one. This is due to fact that mineral quantification and identification are in the absorption feature, not in the reflectance one, and it is only improved in the visualization of color. Resumo O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a influência das correções atmosférica e de "crosstalk" (vazamento de radiação entre detectores) da qualidade das imagens RCGbscale, em dados SWIR do Aster, sobre a identificação da relação mineralógica RCGb [caulinita/(caulinita + gibbsita)], em uma mancha de solos expostos derivados do Complexo de Niquelândia, composto por gabronoritos, noritos e piroxenitos. Abstract: The objective of this work was to evaluate the applicability of time series of the enhanced vegetation index (EVI), from the moderate resolution imaging spectroradiometer (Modis), in the mapping of irrigated areas in the Northeastern region of Brazil. Annual time series from 2006 to 2015 were classified with the iterative self-organizing data analysis technique (Isodata) algorithm, generating a binary map of irrigated and nonirrigated areas for each year. In the Sertão region, the classification showed an average kappa coefficient of 0.66, underestimating the irrigated area by 7.6%, compared with data of the 2006 agricultural census.
