An update of new flood-irrigated rice cultivars in the SimulArroz model PAB
Ribas,Giovana Ghisleni; Streck,Nereu Augusto; Duarte Junior,Ary José; Ribeiro,Bruna San Martin Rolin; Pilecco,Isabela Bulegon; Rossato,Ioran Guedes; Richter,Gean Leonardo; Bexaira,Kelin Pribs; Pereira,Vladison Fogliato; Zanon,Alencar Junior.
Abstract: The objective of this work was to model, in the SimulArroz model, the three flood-irrigated rice (Oryza sativa) cultivars currently most grown in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. The experiments to calibrate and validate the model were conducted in the municipalities of Cachoeirinha, Santa Maria, Uruguaiana, Santa Vitória do Palmar, and Cachoeira do Sul during four crop seasons. The number of leaves, phenology, aboveground dry matter biomass, and yield of each cultivar were evaluated. The results showed a slight overestimate of the R1, R4, and R9 stages; however, overall, the SimulArroz model had a good performance in simulating rice phenology for the three studied genotypes. Furthermore, the model had a reasonable accuracy in simulating...

Soybean yield in future climate scenarios for the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil PAB
Cera,Jossana Ceolin; Streck,Nereu Augusto; Fensterseifer,Cesar Augusto Jarutais; Ferraz,Simone Erotildes Teleginski; Bexaira,Kelin Pribs; Silveira,Waleska Bolzon; Cardoso,Ânthony Paz.
Abstract: The objective of this work was to estimate the yield potential and the water-limited yield of soybean (Glycine max) in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, in two future climate scenarios, SRES A1B and RCP4.5, using the SoySim and Cropgro-Soybean simulation models. In both models, three maturity groups (4.8, 5.5, and 6.0) and six sowing dates (09/01, 10/01, 11/01, 12/01, 01/01, and 02/01) were considered in the SRES A1B-CMIP3 and RCP4.5-CMIP5 scenarios. The analyzed variable was grain yield at 13% moisture (Mg ha-1). Soybean yield potential in Rio Grande do Sul should increase up to the end of the 21st century, according to both scenarios. Water-limited yield of soybean also increases up to the end of the 21st century, by the SRES A1B-CMIP3...

Performance of soybean in hydromorphic and nonhydromorphic soil under irrigated or rainfed conditions PAB
Rocha,Thiago Schmitz Marques da; Streck,Nereu Augusto; Zanon,Alencar Junior; Marcolin,Elio; Petry,Mirta Teresinha; Tagliapietra,Eduardo Lago; Barlest,Darlan; Bexaira,Kelin Pribs.
Abstract: The objective of this work was to evaluate soybean cultivation in a hydromorphic or nonhydromorphic soil, with or without supplemental irrigation. Field experiments were carried out with the TECIRGA 6070RR and A 6411RG cultivars in highlands (nonhydromorphic soils) and lowlands (hydromorphic soils), which are traditionally cultivated with irrigated rice. The following parameters were determined in both soybean cultivars: leaf area index, developmental stages, dry matter partition, and leaf gas exchange. Low water stresses, which commonly occur either by deficit or excess in soybean areas cultivated in hydromorphic soils, do not affect the development and partitioning of dry matter; however, they cause reductions in stomatal conductance,...

Growth habit effect on development of modern soybean cultivars after beginning of bloom in Rio Grande do Sul Bragantia
Zanon,Alencar Junior; Streck,Nereu Augusto; Rocha,Thiago Schmitz Marques da; Alberto,Cleber Maus; Bartz,Alex Cristiano; Paula,Gizelli Moiano de; Tomiozzo,Regina; Costa,Liege Camargo da; Fensterseifer,Cesar Augusto; Tagliapietra,Eduardo Lago; Cardoso,Ânthony Paz; Weber,Patric Scolari; Bexaira,Kelin Pribs.
ABSTRACT There was a change in the genetics of soybeans grown in southern Brazil from the 2000s, which requires investment in basic and detailed studies about growth and development. The purpose in this paper was to characterize the overlap period of vegetative and reproductive phases, growth in height and the emission of nodes after the beginning of flowering in determinate and indeterminate cultivars in different sowing dates and soybean regions in Rio Grande do Sul. Field experiments were conducted during the growing seasons of 2012/2013 and 2013/2014, in Santa Maria, Itaqui, Frederico Westphalen, Capão do Leão, Júlio de Castilhos and in 3 commercial soybean crops in Restinga Sêca, Tupanciretã and Água Santa. Overlap determination (in days) of...
