Este trabalho teve como objetivo inventariar a ocorrência de Sclerocarya birrea (A.Rich) Hochst) no distrito de Chigubo, visando fornecer informação sobre seu potencial produtivo para exploração do óleo (canhu) pelas comunidades locais. Os dados de diâmetro à altura do peito (dap), altura total e comercial e os nomes das espécies foram levantados em dez conglomerados de quatro parcelas com 0,2 ha cada, estabelecidas aleatoriamente nas áreas, para determinar a estrutura horizontal da floresta, distribuição diamétrica e o volume de madeira por unidade da área. Posteriormente, foi determinada a quantidade de produção de amêndoa de canhu no distrito de Chigubo. This study aimed to characterize the composition and structure of mopane forest ecosystems, estimating growth rates and  determining the diameter distribution. It was used data from permanent plots established in 2002 in Mabalane region, Gaza Province. It was analyzed the species composition . It was also determined the horizontal structure of the forest (abundance, dominance, frequency and importance value index) and the annual periodic increment in diameter. The results showed that 15 tree species belonging to eleven botanical families occur in this region. The forest is dominated by Colophospermum mopane (Benth.) J. This study aimed to show the effect of silvicultural treatments to improve the health and productivity of forests mecrusse (Androstachys johnsonii Prain, 1. c.), in the Mabote District of Inhambane province. The experiment design was based on a complete randomization design, comprising of a group of three plots (20 m x 50 m) and three treatments (Control - C, phytosanity - P and thinning - T). The results showed that the silvicultural positively treatments influenced the health and growth. The periodic annual increment (PAI) observed during the period under review was 1.22 mm year-1. This study aimed to adjust the hypsometric model of Trorey, Henricksen, Curtis and Stoffels in ecosystems of mopane (Colophospermum mopane) based on data from permanent plots established in Mabalane, Gaza Province, Mozambique. Statistical adjustment as coefficient of determination R2% and standard error of estimate (Syx%) were determined. Adjustment equations were validated using Chi-square and residual graphic analysis made.
