| Der har tidligere været produktion af mange forskellige grønsager i Danmark, men for nogle arter, som fx gulerod, er produktionen flyttet til Frankrig og Italien, hvor der opnås en højere frøkvalitet. I Forskningsprogram frøavl II blev det besluttet at undersøge, om økologisk produktion af grønsagsfrø kan gennemføres i tunneller i Danmark. Siden år 2000 er der dyrket gulerod, porre og blomkål i en 5 x 50 m stor tunnel opstillet ved Danmarks JordbrugsForskning, Forskningscenter Flakkebjerg. |

| From January 2004 only organically produced seed can be used in organic farming systems within the EU. Optimal forage production relies on the access to improved cultivars of high quality clover and grass seed for forage mixtures. Currently the supply of organic forage seed in Europe i scarce. In Denmark a production of one of the main constituents of forage mixtures, perennial ryegrass (Lolium perenne L.) is established, however, another main constituent, white clover (Trifolium repens L.) is still in request. In general seed yield in organic production is decreased compared to conventional production. | Gulerod (Daucus carota L. subsp. Sativus (Hoffm.) Thell) er en toårig plante og reproduktiv vækst (frøproduktion) sker efter en periode med kort daglængde og lav temperatur (vernalisering). I grønsagsproduktionen (1. år) tilskyndes hurtig rodvækst og gulerodens udvikling frem til færdigt produkt kan gennem- føres i en relativ kort vækstsæson. Frøproduktion (2. år) af gulerod kræver derimod en lang vækstsæson, hvor frøene modner på planten typisk i august-september. | Organic vegetable seed production is possible in Denmark for some of the late maturing vegetable species – when performed in tunnels. At the Danish Institute of Agricultural Sciences (DIAS) different growing systems in tunnels have been studied in carrot (Daucus carota L.), cauliflower (Brassica oleracea var. oleracea) and leek (Allium porrum L.). Tunnel production of carrot and leek seeds increases yield and germination percentages compared to normal field conditions. Yields in the range of 100-250 g seeds/m2 can be obtained in both species. A hybrid cauliflower seed production is possible in tunnels with a yield range of 9.7-67.6 g seeds/plant. | In conventional seed production of grasses and clover it is recognised that a low plant density in the seed crop stimulates the reproductive development and hence increase seed yield. Most temperate forage species of grasses and white clover establish slowly and have a relatively poor ground cover, which limits the competition against weeds. In order to optimise quality and yield in organic grass and clover seed production alternative establishment methods have been identified. | The Danish Minister for Food, Agriculture and Fisheries presented in spring 2004 a bill on co-existence of genetically modified, conventional and organic crops in support of the free choice of consumers and to ensure development possibilities for new and existing production forms. The bill contains a framework for regulation based on crop specific control measures, communication among farmers and mandatory courses in GM cultivation. The identification of control measures is based on the report form the Danish analysis group and from the presentations and discussions at the First European Conference on Co-existence, GMCC-03. |
