Bibliography of Cuban terrestrial Mollusca, including related and biohistorical papers on Cuban malacology Naturalis
Breure, A.S.H.; González Guillén, A..
This paper presents a comprehensive overview of literature on Cuban terrestrial molluscs since the 18th century. It currently cites approximately 1000 references, dealing with a) primary and secondary sources directly treating Cuban taxa or relevant for the study of the Cuban malacofauna; b) abstracts of congresses, unpublished theses, and internal reports ('grey literature'); and c) biohistorical papers dealing with the life and work of Cuban malacologists. To provide some context, we also give brief overviews of Cuban and non-Cuban authors and journals issued on the island relevant for Cuban malacology.

Caribbean Land Molluscs: Bulimulidae I. Bulimulus Naturalis
Breure, A.S.H..
This series of papers is based on the Bulimulidae collected by dr. P. WAGENAAR HUMMELINCK during several trips to the West Indies, and additional material from several museum collections. The species dealt with in this series have previously been treated in part by several authors and in particular monographically by PILSBRY in the Manual of Conchology (second series, vol. 10-12, 14). Thanks to additional information and access to previously unknown type material, it is now possible to present a revision of this family in the Lesser Antilles and Puerto Rico.

Robinson, D.G.; Hovestadt, A.; Fields, A.; Breure, A.S.H..
An overview of the land-snail fauna of the Lesser Antillean island of Dominica is given, based on data from literature and four recent surveys. There are 42 taxa listed, of which the following species are recorded for the first time from the island: Allopeas gracile (Hutt on, 1834), A. micra (d’Orbigny, 1835), Beckianum beckianum (L. Pfeiffer, 1846), Bulimulus diaphanus fraterculus (Potiez & Michaud, 1835), Deroceras laeve (Müller, 1774), Sarasinula marginata (Semper, 1885), Streptostele musaecola (Morelet, 1860) and Veronicella sloanii (Cuvier, 1817). The enigmatic Bulimulus stenogyroides Guppy, 1868 is now placed in the genus Naesiotus Albers, 1850. Helicina epistilia Guppy, 1868 is now considered a synonym of H. platychila (Megerle von Mühlfeld,...

José Julián Bravo (1874-1927), a hitherto unknown conchologist from Peru Naturalis
Mogollón Avila, V.; Breure, A.S.H..
The recent finding of a private shell collection from Peru, dating from the early 20th century, sheds some new light on the history of Neotropical malacology. The collection of J.J. Bravo is partly reconstructed and some data is given on his life and conchological activities. It shows that, in the early 20th century, connections did exist between amateur conchologists from Peru, the United Kingdom and the United States of America.

Breure, A.S.H..
During a collecting trip through southern and central Mexico (Breure, 1974) special attention has been paid to Bulimulidae and Urocoptidae. Among the material of urocoptids a new species has been found. Anisospira velascorum sp. n. (figs. 1-10, pl. 1) Description. — Shell up to 30.5 mm, 2.39 times as long as wide, rimate, with rather convex sides; cylindrical; solid. Colour reddish-brown. Surface slightly shining, with numerous fine riblets, which are slightly recurved and equally spaced over the surface of the shell. Riblets about (half) as broad as the intervals, with 5-6 riblets/mm on the antepenultimate whorl. Decollate; adult shell with 7 whorls, moderately convex; first three whorls of adult shell rapidly increasing in width, other whorls nearly...

Systematics, phylogeny and zoogeography of Bulimulinae (Mollusca) Naturalis
Breure, A.S.H..
In this publication a revision is given of the genera of the subfamily Bulimulinae (Gastropoda, Pulmonata, Bulimulidae). The morphological variation of the shell, radula, pallial organs and genitalia is analized and 21 character transition series are recognized. In the systematical part the following data are presented for each genus : description of shell and anatomy, distribution, ecology, bibliography and a list of taxa. The number of (sub) genera is reduced from 80 to 43 ( + two nomina inquirenda). A new synonymy is : Paracochlea Hylton Scott, 1967 = Eudioptus Albers, 1860. The following new species names are introduced : Bostryx sophieae, Drymaeus (Drymaeus) marcapatensis, Drymaeus (Drymaeus) sophieae, Drymaeus (Mesembrinus) pseudobesus. Berendtia...

Carination strikes the eye: extreme shell shapes and sibling species in three Andean genera of the Orthalicidae (Gastropoda, Stylommatophora) Naturalis
Breure, A.S.H..
Two new sibling species are described, Bostryx multiconspectus spec. nov and B. primigenius spec. nov., one of which is carinate. From the carinate taxa known in the Orthalicidae, 16 are occurring at localities in the Andes from northern Peru to northwestern Argentina. They belong to three genera, Bostryx, Neopetraeus and Scutalus. It is hypothesized that carination originated independently in these lineages.

Well-known and little-known: miscellaneous notes on Peruvian Orthalicidae (Gastropoda, Stylommatophora) Naturalis
Breure, A.S.H.; Mogollón Avila, V..
The family Orthalicidae is well represented in Peru but, like in other families, some species are wellknown and others have not been reported on since their original descriptions. In this paper we present new records for well-known species and elucidate the status of several lesser known taxa. Four taxa are described as new: Bostryx chusgonensis sipas, B. fragilis, Scutalus (Scutalus) mariopenai and S. (S.) phaeocheilus altoensis. The following species are recorded as new to the Peruvian malacofauna: Corona pfeifferi, Drymaeus (D.) branneri, and Thaumastus flori. Strophocheilus tenuis Haas, 1955 is now considered synonymous with Thaumastus (Paeniscutalus) crenellus (Philippi, 1867). Plekocheilus conspicuus Pilsbry, 1932 is now placed in the synonymy of...
