This paper objectified to bring to light the milk industry managers’ social representations on the environmental management. For such, the systematization of a theoretic-methodological framework was adopted, whose interpretation shows that the environmental management, in the view of the researched milk industries managers, runs three complementary representations. This paper is aimed at describing and analyzing the governance structure of a network of small and medium sized businesses in the supermarket sector as well as the social control mechanisms adopted to coordinate the activities carried out by common and diverging actors, on the basis of a model proposed by Jones et al. (1997). The governance is considered a capable tool to regulate any instability originating from divergences, trying to keep the harmony and to strengthen the trust ties within the interorganizational networks. The objective of this paper is to study the socio-environmental management of a company in the cellulose industry based on the organization’s interaction in the social field. To achieve this, a theoretical-methodological model, based on an interpretative approach and on the understanding of environmental management as a social practice, was used. Triangulation of document analysis techniques and deep semi-open interviews were carried out. To interpret the results, content analysis was used to identify how managers understand the socially constructed relations between the organization and the environment.
