Modifications on Labels and Leaflets of Herbicides for Preventing and Managing Resistance Planta Daninha
CARVALHO,S.J.P.; ROSSI,C.V.S.; MELO,M.S.C.; CHRISTOFFOLETI,P.J.; KAGI,F.Y..
ABSTRACT: The challenge of managing herbicide-resistant weeds is an agricultural reality in Brazil that shall not be neglected. In this sense, Ministério da Agricultura, Pecuária e Abastecimento (MAPA) published Act No. 45 on July 14, 2017, provides the inclusion of a code system on labels and leaflets of insecticides, fungicides and herbicides, in order to demonstrate the mode of action of the active ingredient present in the product. In case of mix formulations, both molecules must be discriminated, adopting the same “Herbicide Resistance Action Committee - HRAC” international reference code. The Act No. 45 facilitates the process to choose and adopt products by all those involved in the chain production. It also collaborates with the possible to...

Leaching of Herbicides Commonly Applied to Sugarcane in Five Agricultural Soils Planta Daninha
GUIMARÃES,A.C.D.; MENDES,K.F.; CAMPION,T.F.; CHRISTOFFOLETI,P.J.; TORNISIELO,V.L..
ABSTRACT: Leaching intensity depends on the physicochemical properties of soils and herbicides. Consequently, a good understanding of this process is essential to determine mitigation measures to reduce or eliminate the risk of water contamination around areas with sugarcane crops. Therefore, the objective of this study was to analyze the leaching of ametryn, diuron, hexazinone, and metribuzin by using columns in five soils with different physicochemical properties cultivated with sugarcane. The radiolabeled herbicides with 14C were evaluated at six soil depths (0-0.05, 0.05-0.10, 0.10-0.15, 0.15-0.20, 0.20-0.25, and 0.25-0.30 m) and in the leachate after 200 mm rainfall simulation for 48 h. Herbicide leaching was mostly affected by soil type. Ametryn and...

Mowing Associated to Chemical Control for Glyphosate-Resistant Cotton Stalk Destruction Planta Daninha
BRAZ,G.B.P.; ANDRADE JR.,E.R.; NICOLAI,M.; LOPEZ OVEJERO,R.F.; CAVENAGHI,A.L.; OLIVEIRA JR.,R.S.; CHRISTOFFOLETI,P.J.; PEREIRA,A.T.A.; CONSTANTIN,J.; GUIMARÃES,S.C..
ABSTRACT: Post-harvest cotton stalk control is mandatory in many cotton producing countries, and the major methods used for this practice are mechanical and chemical (glyphosate and 2,4-D as the most usual herbicides applied), or a combination of both. However, the adoption of glyphosate-resistant cotton varieties by growers have required the development of alternative chemical treatments. Six trials were conducted to evaluate systems combining mowing and chemical control of glyphosate-resistant cotton stalks. Experiments conducted in 2014 were installed in randomized complete block design with nineteen treatments and four replicates. In 2015, the experiments were also conducted in randomized complete block design with eleven treatments and four...

Control of ALS- and EPSPS-Resistant Amaranthus palmeri by Alternative Herbicides Applied in PRE- and POST-Emergence Planta Daninha
GONÇALVES NETTO,A.; NICOLAI,M.; CARVALHO,S.J.P.; MALARDO,M.R.; LÓPEZ-OVEJERO,R.F.; CHRISTOFFOLETI,P.J..
ABSTRACT: The emergence of resistant biotypes of the Amaranthus palmeri species in cotton production areas of the state of Mato Grosso, Brazil, generated the need for correct identification of this species and information on viable herbicidal tools for their management. Thus, greenhouse experiments were conducted to evaluate the efficacy of alternative herbicides applied to A. palmeri in pre and post emergence. A randomized block design with four replications was used. The efficacy of herbicides applied in pre emergence was evaluate in two experiments, one in a clayey and other in a sandy soil; 9 herbicide treatments (8 with herbicide application and a control without application) were applied on each soil. Subsequently, two experiments with different...

Shikimate accumulation, glyphosate absorption and translocation in horseweed biotypes Planta Daninha
CARDINALI,V.C.B.; DIAS,A.C.R.; MUELLER,T.C.; ABERCROMBIE,L.; STEWART JR.,C.N.; TORNISIELO,V.L.; CHRISTOFFOLETI,P.J..
In Brazil, few research works on mechanisms of weed resistance to glyphosate have been conducted so far. Therefore, this research aimed to study analytical procedures determining the relation between the concentration of plant shikimate after glyphosate application and the plant resistance to this herbicide; and evaluate the glyphosate absorption and translocation into two resistant ® and susceptible (S) horseweed biotypes to glyphosate. Horseweed plants with nine true leaves received glyphosate (720 g a.e. ha-1), and 2, 3, 4, 7 and 10 days after application (DAA) the concentration of shikimic acid was measured by HPLC. In another experiment, plants were treated with radiolabeled glyphosate (14C) (1.456 MBq mmol-1 specific activity) and radioactivity was...

MULTIPLE RESISTANCE OF Amaranthus palmeri TO ALS AND EPSPS INHIBITING HERBICIDES IN THE STATE OF MATO GROSSO, BRAZIL Planta Daninha
NETTO,A. GONÇALVES; NICOLAI,M.; CARVALHO,S.J.P.; BORGATO,E.A.; CHRISTOFFOLETI,P.J..
ABSTRACT This work was carried out in order to evaluate the susceptibility to ALS-inhibiting herbicides of the Brazilian biotype of glyphosate-resistant A. palmeri, considering different chemical groups. For that, four experiments were performed, each with one of the following herbicides: glyphosate, chlorimuron-ethyl, cloransulan-methyl and imazethapyr. In each trial, treatments were organized according to a 2x8 factorial scheme, in which two were the species of Amaranthus (A. palmeri and A. spinosus) and eight were the herbicide rates (16D, 8D, 4D, 2D, D, 1/2D, 1/4D and herbicide absence; being D the commercial rate of each product). For glyphosate, D = 720 g a.e. ha-1; for chlorimuron-ethyl, D = 20 g ha-1; for cloransulanmethyl, D = 30 g ha-1; for...

Sourgrass Resistance Mechanism to the Herbicide Glyphosate Planta Daninha
MELO,M.S.C.; ROCHA,L.J.F.N.; BRUNHARO,C.A.C.G.; NICOLAI,M.; TORNISIELLO,V.L.; NISSEN,S.J.; CHRISTOFFOLETI,P.J..
ABSTRACT: The knowledge on the mechanism that gives a weed resistance to a particular herbicide is essential regarding scientific, academic, and practical aspects because it determines the recommendations for prevention and management of resistance in the field. Studies on the sourgrass (Digitaria insularis) glyphosate resistance mechanism in the literature have not been conclusive. Thus, the aim of this research was to study and evaluate the putative resistance mechanisms whichgives sourgrass biotypes, the ability to survive after glyphosate application. For this, 14C-glyphosate leaf absorption and translocation were compared in the biotypes Matão (R), Campo Florido (MG), Diamantino (MT), and Iracemápolis (S) as a function of the time after its...

COMPORTAMENTO DE HERBICIDA EM SOLO DE VÁRZEA COM DRENAGEM SUBTERRÂNEA Scientia Agricola
CRUCIANI,D.E.; BAPTISTA,G.C.; CHRISTOFFOLETI,P.J.; MINAMI,K..
