| This study aimed to evaluate wood physical properties of Pinus patula, aged 38, from a forest stand located in Machipanda, central region of Mozambique. Determination of physical properties, such as basic specific gravity, shrinkage, and moisture content of wood in the pith-bark followed the recommendations of the Panamerican Standard - COPANT. Results showed statistically significant differences at significance level of 5%, in the radial direction for the shrinkage coefficient in the pith-bark. Radial and tangential shrinkage values were 6.06 and 8.80% in juvenile wood and 6.18 and 8.65% in adult wood, respectively, with anisotropy coefficient of 1.43 for juvenile wood and 2.44 for adult wood. | O presente estudo objetivou avaliar o uso da constante elástica dinâmica obtida no ensaio não destrutivo, como parâmetro para estimativa das propriedades mecânicas de rigidez e resistência da madeira de Eucalyptus grandis. Para isto, utilizou-se um emissor de ondas ultrassônicas, o qual teve sua sensibilidade avaliada através da comparação com os valores obtidos no ensaio destrutivo de flexão estática. Os resultados evidenciam que a constante elástica dinâmica pode ser utilizada para inferência não destrutiva da rigidez e resistência da madeira de Eucalyptus grandis, entretanto com ressalvas, pois os ajustes observados foram relativamente baixos, com R²aj. de 0,25 e 0,39, respectivamente. doi: 10.4336/2012.pfb.32.69.109 |

| This study aimed to verify the basic density influence in dynamic bending trails of Hovenia dulcis Thunb wood. In order to do so, 34 samples of heart wood were used, with the following dimensions: 30 x 2 x2 cm (longitudinal, radial and tangential) respectively, according to the Brazilian standard, NBR 7190 (1997). The samples were evaluated for their basic density for the rate between the weight in 12% of moisture and its respective volume and posteriorly, it was separated in two groups: the first with specific weight between 0,55 and 0,64 g/cm³ and the second one between 0,65 and 0,75, aiming the comparison between the treatments. | This study aims to model the hypsometric relation to Pinus elliottii Engelm in the city of Dois Vizinhos, Paraná State, Brazil, and to investigate the difference of the relationship between the different sociological positions. | The objective of this research was to evaluate the performance of different methods for estimating total volume for Corymbia citriodora (Hook.) K.D. Hill & L.A.S. Johnson, with 17 years old, located in west of São Paulo State, Brazil. The compared methods were the volumetric equation from Schumacher and Hall, the two diameters method and the artificial form factor.
