Abstract: The objective of this work was to investigate the effect of liming and phosphorus fertilization on the growth, mineral composition of the leaves, fruit yield, and mycorrhizal colonization of young feijoa (Acca sellowiana) plants. Treatments consisted of four liming levels - 0, 25, 50, and 100% of the dose required to raise the soil pH to 6.5 - and of five levels of P - 0, 60, 120, 180, and 240 kg ha-1 P2O5 -, placed in a randomized complete block design, in a split-plot arrangement, with three replicates. The orchard was established in 2010 with the Helena cultivar. In 2012, 2013, and 2014, plant growth was evaluated by measuring trunk perimeter, plant height, and tree canopy width. Physicochemical attributes and functional properties of flowers of Brazilian feijoa genotypes PAB

Abstract: The objective of this work was to characterize entire flowers of the feijoa (Acca sellowiana) genotypes 'Alcântara', 'Helena', 'Mattos', 'Nonante', and the accession 2316 for dry matter, total antioxidant activity (TAA), and the contents of soluble solids, ascorbic acid, total anthocyanins, total flavonoids, and total phenolic compounds (TPC), as well as for the petal surface areas and colors. The TAA was quantified by the ABTS and DPPH methods. Flowers of the accession 2316 and of the cultivars Alcântara and Helena showed the highest contents of anthocyanins and flavonoids, as well as the highest values of TPC and TAA. Abstract This work evaluated the mineral composition of leaves and fruits of apple (Malus domestica Borkh) ‘Fuji’ on different rootstocks. The experiment was conducted from 2008 to 2011 in the municipality of São Joaquim (SC). The treatments evaluated rootstocks: CG.008, CG.24, CG.56, CG.058, CG.210, CG.213, CG.757, CG.814 and CG.969 of the American series Cornell Geneva (CG); JM.2 and JM.7 of the Japanese series Japan, Morioka (JM); and M.7, M.9 and M.26 of the English series, EMLA (M). Abstract The application of rest breaking agents to overcome the lack of chilling is a common practice in apple orchards in southern Brazil. Abstract Potassium fertilization can change K forms available in the soil, as well as influence plant absorption of it and yield but, mainly, it can affect grape composition. The aim of the current study was to investigate the impact of potassium (K) fertilization on grape production and juice (must) composition of a Cabernet Sauvignon cultivar. Grapevines were treated with 0, 50, 100, 150 and 200 kg ha-1 year-1 K2O. Leaf K contents, grape yield per plant and area, total soluble solids (TSS), must pH and titratable acidity, and K available in the soil were assessed. Propagação in vitro e caracterização química do óleo essencial de Lavandula angustifolia cultivada no Sul do Brasil Ciência Rural

Lavandula angustifolia Mill. é uma importante planta produtora de óleos essenciais, que apresenta dificuldade de propagação pelo enraizamento de estacas, sendo a produção de mudas realizada nesse trabalho pela técnica de micropropagação, em que foram avaliadas algumas condições do cultivo in vitro. As mudas produzidas pela micropropagação foram cultivadas em São Joaquim (SC). O óleo essencial das inflorescências foi extraído por hidrodestilação, e analisado quanto a sua composição por GC/MS, em dois anos de colheita. O meio de cultura LS apresentou melhor resposta no desenvolvimento das brotações, não sendo observadas brotações com necrose apical. This study aimed to evaluate leaf water potential, nutritional status, and must composition in cv. 'Pinot Nero' grapevines grown with and without irrigation. The experiment was conducted at a commercial vineyard of 'Pinot Nero' 828 grafted on SO4rootstock, established in 2002 in Trento, Northern Italy. ABSTRACT: Fertilization of apple orchards with phosphorus (P) has received less attention than with nitrogen and potassium. In Brazil, the information about apple response to soil P addition is meager. The objective of this study was to evaluate the long-term effect of annual soil P addition on quality and mineral composition of apple fruits. Matéria orgânica e aumento da capacidade de troca de cátions em solo com argila de atividade baixa sob plantio direto Ciência Rural

O sistema de manejo afeta a matéria orgânica do solo, o que pode ter expressivo efeito na CTC de solos com argila de atividade baixa. Neste estudo, avaliou-se o efeito da utilização durante 21 anos do sistema plantio direto (SPD) sobre os estoques de carbono orgânico (CO), bem como a sua relação com o aumento da CTC de um Latossolo bruno (629 g kg-1 de argila), em Guarapuava, PR. O SPD promoveu acúmulo de CO na camada superficial do solo (0-6cm), o que refletiu-se num aumento de 2,63t ha-1 no estoque de CO, na camada de 0-20cm, em comparação ao preparo convencional. A baixa taxa de acúmulo de CO (0,12t ha-1 ano-1) foi relacionada à alta estabilidade física da matéria orgânica neste solo argiloso e oxídico. Apesar do pequeno acúmulo de CO no solo sob SPD,...
