En 1999, le risque écologique encouru par les écosystèmes côtiers soumis à la prolifération de la crépidule, Crepidula fornicata, a été pleinement reconnu par la communauté scientifique nationale et internationale. Au niveau national, le Programme National Environnement Côtier (PNEC) et le programme national LITEAU ont tous deux identifié des actions thématiques prioritaires sur la dynamique de prolifération de la crépidule et les interactions crépidule/bivalves exploités. Dynamic studies of the Abra alba-Melinna palmata muddy sand community from 1972 to 1982 show that after an initial recolonization until 1976 species richness and density exhibit a steady trend. Three groups of species and five main categories of population abundance evolution are deduced from qualitative and quantitative sampling. Rapid stabilization of abiotic factors occurs after the starting up of the tidal power dam in 1966 and the authors' evolutive scheme reflects both importance of hydrodynamic effects in the dispersion of benthic organisms and demographic strategies of main populations, especially annelids (80-90% of the community). Estimation du stock naturel d'ormeaux (Haliotis tuberculata) dans la region de Saint-Malo. ArchiMer

Abundance and biomass of an unexploited ormer population in the vicinity of Saint-Malo (northern Brittany) are estimated using a stratified sampling technique. Examinations are made be diving at 200 sites. The mean biomass of the population is about 400 tons but the stock is not evenly distributed over the studied area: the greatest densities are observed on schist substrate. Size and weight frequency distribution reveal a "top-heave" structure due to an accumulation of old individuals with low production.
