A surface plasmon resonance system for the underwater detection of domoic acid ArchiMer
Colas, Florent; Crassous, Marie-pierre; Laurent, Sebastien; Litaker, Richard W.; Rinnert, Emmanuel; Le Gall, Erwan; Lunven, Michel; Delauney, Laurent; Compère, Chantal.
Over the past decade Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) techniques have been applied to the measurement of numerous analytes. In this article, an SPR biosensor system deployed from an oceanographic vessel was used to measure dissolved domoic acid (DA), a common and harmful phycotoxin produced by certain microalgae species belonging to the genus Pseudo-nitzschia. During the biosensor deployment, concentrations of Pseudo-nitzschia cells were very low over the study area and measured DA concentrations were below detection. However, the in situ operational detection limit of the system was established using calibrated seawater solutions spiked with DA. The system could detect the toxin at concentrations as low as 0.1 ng mL−1 and presented a linear dynamic range...

A dissolved oxygen calibration bench ArchiMer
Salvetat, Florence; Lamandé, Nolwenn; Le Bihan, Caroline; Compère, Chantal.
This paper presents a metrology bench dedicated to the calibration of optical dissolved oxygen sensors. This set up is used at Ifremer metrology laboratory to calibrate dissolved oxygen sensors integrated on oceanographic probes. The characterization of the bench is seen through the analysis of its stability and its homogeneity. An application is proposed on the calibration of Aanderaa 3835 and 4330 optodes.

Fonctionnalisation de surfaces d'acier inoxydable par des enzymes en vue d'inhiber l'adhésion de bactéries et la formation de biofilms en eau de mer ArchiMer
Caro, A.; Humblot, V.; Minier, M.; Salmain, M.; Compère, Chantal; Pradier, C.-m..
All surfaces that are immersed in seawater rapidly become covered by nitrogenous compounds, proteins, carbohydrates, salts, silica and bacteria in a few hours, and by a grown biofilm in a few days. These biodeterioration, physical and chemical damages involve important cleaning costs. Organostanic paintings used up to now to protect the surfaces against this spoiling will be prohibited in 2008 because of their toxicity. That's why the stake today is to find alternatives to these paintings. The solution which is here suggested consists in acting on the first stages of the formation of the biofilm i.e. the proteins and bacterial adsorption on the surface. For this, the surface is chemically modified then functionalized by enzymes. Enzymes will act locally on...
