The Glória quartz-monzodiorite, one of the mafic plutons of the Paleoproterozoic Mineiro belt, is intrusive into banded gneisses, amphibolites, schists and phyllites of the Rio das Mortes greenstone belt, in the southern portion of the São Francisco Craton, State of Minas Gerais, Brazil. The Glória quartz-monzodiorite yields a SHRIMP U-Pb zircon age of 2188 ± 29 Ma, suggesting a tectonic relationship with the pre-collisional phase of the Mineiro belt. According to the Nd isotopic evidence (epsilonNd(T) = -3.4; T DM = 2.68 Ga) the original magmas was formed by a mixture among Archean crustal material and Paleoproterozoic juvenile magma. New SHRIMP U-Pb zircon ages for the Portalegre and Alcáçovas orthogneisses document a complex pre- Variscan history for the Iberian basement in Portugal. The available geochemical and geochronological data for the Alcáçovas orthogneiss (ca. 540 Ma) tend to favor its involvement in a Cadomian orogenic event. This is consistent with the development of an active continental margin setting at the end of the Proterozoic and supports a Gondwanan provenance for the Iberian crust. On the other hand, the Ordovician emplacement age obtained for the magmatic precursors of the Portalegre orthogneisses (497±10 Ma) provides additional evidence for the occurrence of rift-related magmatic activity during the Lower Paleozoic. A finalidade do presente trabalho foi efetuar um reconhecimento fotogeológico na parte sul do Estado de São Paulo, para a obtenção de um mapa base para futuros trabalhos de detalhe. Foram utilizadas fotografias aéreas e mosaicos do Instituto Agronômico do Estado, na escala de 1:25.000. Os critérios utilizados na fotointerpretação foram: 1) a erosão diferencial, que, com exceção das áreas peneplanizatlas, constituiu o principal critério de identificação das diversas litologias; 2) o padrão de drenagem, refletindo a situação estrutural da rocha subjacente; 3) as relações texturais, importantes na distinção de tipos litológicos particulares, que apresentam padrões especiais de texturas.
