Early Miocene Cricetidae (Rodentia, Mammalia) from Buñol (Prov. Valencia, Spain) Naturalis
Daams, R.; Freudenthal, M..
The Cricetidae remains from Buñol, collected by field parties of the Department of Paleontology (State University of Utrecht, The Netherlands), are described. Three previously known species have been recognized: Megacricetodon minor primitivus (Freudenthal, 1963), Democricetodon aff. hispanicus Freudenthal, 1967 and Fahlbuschia cf. koenigswaldi (Freudenthal, 1963). One new species is described: Eumyarion valencianum. The presence of M. m. primitivus points to an Early Miocene age (collongensis Assemblage-Zone).

The micromammal fauna from the upper Oligocene of Sayatón 6, Madrid Basin, Prov. of Guadalajara, Spain Naturalis
Daams, R..
The extremely poor rodent fauna of Sayatón 6 is described. Only three species are present, of which two are new: Adelomyarion alberti sp. nov. (Cricetidae) and Peridyromys columbarii sp. nov. (Gliridae). The third species, Rhodanomys transiens, places the age of the fauna in the Late Oligocene.

Daams, R.; Freudenthal, M..
This paper is a detailed study of 10 000 Megacricetodon teeth from 35 localities of Aragonian and early Vallesian age. One new species is described: M. rafaeli sp. nov. from Armantes 7. Evolutionary trends of this group are discussed and a comparison with French and Central European material is made.

Aragonian : the stage concept versus Neogene mammal zones Naturalis
Daams, R.; Freudenthal, M..
The system of Neogene Mammal Zones, as originally created by Mein (1975), is discussed, and found to be confusing. The Aragonian in the type section and in the surrounding area is discussed, and the evolution of its fauna described in some detail. It appears dubious to apply the MN-zones to the faunules of the Aragonian type area. On the other hand, the type section may well serve as a basis for correlation of Miocene vertebrate localities in Spain and France and — may be — in other parts of Europe.

[Biostratigraphy and paleoecology of the Neogene micromammalian faunas from the Calatayud-Teruel Basin (Spain) / Freudenthal, M. (editor)]: Cricetidae (Rodentia) from the type Aragonian; the genera Democricetodon, Fahlbuschia, Pseudofahlbuschia nov. gen., and Renzimys Naturalis
Freudenthal, M.; Daams, R..
This paper deals with four cricetid genera that were formerly assembled under the genus names Democricetodon and Fahlbuschia. Four new species are described, Fahlbuschia decipiens, Fahlbuschia corcolesi, Renzimys lacombai, and Pseudofahlbuschia jordensi gen. nov., sp. nov. The material studied is placed in its stratigraphic context, and appears to be most valuable for a stratigraphic subdivision of the Aragonian. The evolution and paleoecology are discussed.

Hypsodont Myomiminae (Gliridae, Rodentia) from the Miocene and the Oligocene-Miocene boundary interval of Spain Naturalis
Daams, R..
Fifty-one localities from the Oligocene-Miocene boundary interval and the Miocene of Spain have yielded nearly 4000 teeth of hypsodont Gliridae (Armantomys and Praearmantomys). The phylogeny and palaeoecology are discussed. Two new species of Armantomys (A. parsani sp. nov. from Ramblar 1 and A. jasperi sp. nov. from Córcoles) are described.

[Biostratigraphy and paleoecology of the Neogene micromammalian faunas from the Calatayud-Teruel Basin (Spain) / Freudenthal, M. (editor)]: Ecostratigraphy of micromammal faunas from the Neogene of Spain Naturalis
Daams, R.; Freudenthal, M.; Meulen, A.J. van der.
The paleoecological analysis of Neogene rodent faunas in the Calatayud-Teruel Basin leads to the recognition of three realtively cool, and two relatively warm periods. The humidity curve reveals four wet and four dry periods. The results agree remarkably well with temperature and humidity curves obtained from other geological disciplines.

Palaeontology and biostratigraphy (micromammals) of the continental Oligocene-Miocene deposits of the north-central Ebro Basin (Huesca, Spain) Naturalis
Alvarez Sierra, M.A.; Daams, R.; Lacomba, J.I.; López-Martínez, N.; Meulen, A.J. van der; Sesé, C.; Visser, J. de.
In this paper the micromammals from three localities in the Oligocene/Miocene boundary interval and the Lower Miocene of the Ebro Basin in the Province of Huesca (northern Spain) are described. Twenty-five species are recognized, two of which are new (Quercomys daamsi de Visser and Peridyromys turbatus Alvarez Sierra et al.; Gliridae). One new subspecies belonging to the Ochotonidae (Prolagus vasconiensis fortis López Martínez & Sesé) is described. The biostratigraphy, palaeoecological implications and palaeobiogeography are discussed.

Upper Oligocene micromammals from Pareja, Loranca Basin, Prov. of Guadalajara, Spain Naturalis
Daams, R.; Freudenthal, M.; Lacomba, J. I.; Alvarez, M.A..
Eight rodent species from the Upper Oligocene of Pareja are described. The Theridomyidae are represented by Issiodoromys minor and Archaeomys (A.) gervaisi and the Eomyidae by Eomys cf. molassicus. Four cricetid species are described: Heterocricetodon landroveri sp. nov., Eucricetodon margaritae sp. nov., Eucricetodon cf. atavus, and Eucricetodon sp. One new glirid species, Gliravus caracensis, is recognized. The fauna of Pareja is considered to be somewhat older than that of Carrascosa del Campo, and considerably younger than that of Montalbán.
