Genetic polymorphism among natural populations of Anacardium humile A. ST-HIL Rev. Bras. Frutic.
Santos,Silvia Correa; Carvalho,Raquel dos Santos; Davide,Livia Maria Chamma.
Abstract The genus Anacardium presents nine species, of these, three have sub-bush size, common in the Cerrado of the Center-West of Brazil. The objective of this work was to evaluate the genetic variability of the species, collected in eleven provenances, using RAPD markers. Genomic DNA from 122 accessions was extracted and amplified with 25 decamer primers. The results indicated polymorphism, ranging from 77.71% to 96.18%. The distribution of genetic diversity among and within populations shows that 27.14% of the variability is found between populations and 37.44% within the populations, suggesting the existence of genetic variability that may be related to the reproductive strategies adopted by the species throughout its evolution. The index of...

Assessment of genetic parameters of degradability in maize grains due to indentation scores Scientia Agricola
Davide,Livia Maria Chamma; Ramalho,Magno Antônio Patto; Figueiredo,Ulisses José de; Souza,João Cândido de.
Maize (Zea mays L.) cultivars with dent grains present higher starch and dry matter ruminal degradability than those with flint grains. This study aimed to assess genetic parameters of degradability in maize grains of different textures and to verify whether there is an association between grain indentation score and ruminal dry matter (RDM) degradability. The evaluated progenies were obtained from the cross between the varieties Cristal (flint) and Cunha (dent), previously selected for grain hardness. Progenies were evaluated for an indentation score using a visual grading scale ranging from 1 (flint) to 5 (dent). To assess the RDM degradability, 5 g were cut into halves, weighed (five grams), stored in bags made of 100% "failet" cloth and incubated for...

In vitro pollen viability of maize cultivars at different times of collection Ciência Rural
Martins,Emanoel Sanches; Davide,Livia Maria Chamma; Miranda,Gian José; Barizon,Jefferson de Oliveira; Souza Junior,Francisco de Assis; Carvalho,Rafael Pelloso de; Gonçalves,Manoel Carlos.
ABSTRACT: In the present study, we aimed to assess the in vitro viability of pollen grains from maize cultivars collected at different times and days in the field. Four cultivars (Sol da Manhã, XB 6012, XB 8010, and BRS 2020) were evaluated from the second to fifth day of anthesis in three times. Pollen samples were evaluated for their in vitro viability through standard germination test in liquid and solid media and tetrazolium staining. The experimental design was completely randomized, in 4x4x3 split-split plots with four replicates. Data were subjected to analysis of variance followed by a means clustering test and linear regression analysis. The average percentage of viable pollen varied according to the day, collection time, and cultivar. In general,...

Identification of haploid maize by flow cytometry, morphological and molecular markers Ciência e Agrotecnologia
Couto,Evellyn Giselly de Oliveira; Davide,Livia Maria Chamma; Bustamante,Fernanda de Oliveira; Pinho,Renzo Garcia Von; Silva,Tallyta Nayara.
The development of homozygous breeding lines in maize may be accelerated through the use of haploids. Thus, the obtaining and prior identification of haploids generated by the haploid inducer lines is an important factor. The purpose of this study was to identify haploids by flow cytometry and to correlate the nuclear DNA content to the morphological and morphometric traits of the seeds that gave rise to them. In addition, molecular markers were used to confirm the androgenetic nature of the haploid. The seeds obtained were derived from the cross between the inbred line W23 and the commercial hybrid P30F90. Among these seeds, a group was selected, putative haploids, whose embryo was white and the pericarp purplish. This group, consisting of 330 seeds, was...
