A reassessment of Belonidium Mont. & Dur Naturalis
Dennis, R.W.G..
A study of the sole original species of Belonidium Mont. & Dur. revealed that this generic name has been misapplied by subsequent authors. The taxon is redefined as a subgenus of Dasyscyphus S. F. Gray. A brief account is given of the latter genus and its subdivisions and of other genera assigned to the Hyaloscyphaceae trib. Lachneae ( Psilachnum Höhn., Diplocarpa Massee) and subfam. Trichocyphelloideae ( Lachnellula P. Karst., Perrotia Boud.) transferred from the Helotiaceae to the Hyaloscyphaceae, as well as of some other genera, Trichodiscus Kirschst., Lasiobelonium (Sacc.) Sacc. and Zoellneria Vel. The taxonomic significance of lanceolate paraphyses, characteristic in the Hyaloscyphaceae of the Lachneae, and in other families of Helotiales is...

Remarks on the genus Hymenoscohus S. F. Gray, with observations on sundry species referred by Saccardo and others to the genera Helotium, Pezizella or Phialea Naturalis
Dennis, R.W.G..
The author proposes to replace the generic name Helotium Pers. ex. St. Amans, revived by Fries in 1849, by Cudoniella Sacc. but to transfer most of the species commonly assigned to the genus to Hymenoscyphus S. F. Gray. Eighty-four species referred to genera of Helotiaceae by Saccardo and others are discussed in the light of the types or other authentic material. Finally there is appended a list of 102 accepted species, distributed in Cudoniella (3), Hymenoscyphus (77 arranged in 7 series), Ciboriella (3), Phaeohelotium (2), Sphagnicola (5), Discinella (4) and Ciboriopsis (8).
