Tadpoles of Hyla bipunctata Spix and H. meridiana Lutz are described and illustrated, both belonging to the "microcephala" group, occurring in the State of Rio de Janeiro. In spite of the large resemblance existent between the tadpoles of these species, they can be distinguished by morphologic aspects, coloration and dimensions on several stages. In "microcephala" group, by the verified in the tadpoles now studied and in those of others species figured in the literature, we can emphasize singular aspects as the absence of comeus denticles and papillae in the mouth, alongside of the prolonged form of the body with xiphicercal tail. |
