| The fishery for benthic species (Monkfish, Megrim, Rays, etc ... ) represents for the surrounder countries of the Celtic Sea and the Bay of Biscaye one of the most important activities . An estimate of the discards of the main species resulting from the sorting practice onboard of the trawlers participating in this fishery was made in 1985 and 1991. it was concluded that an important quantity of juveniles of Rays, Megrim and Monkfish are discarded each year causing an important mortality. | This paper is devoted to statistical problems associated to the estimation of the parameters of a Von Bertalanffy growth curve. A first part corresponds to theoretical considerations, first within the classical regression point of view, corresponding to residuals normaly and independently distributed, then to resampling techniques (Jackknife/Bootstrap). The possibility of using not only the arithmetic mean of observed lengths for a given age, but also medians and modes is discussed. | The general study, scheduled from 1984 to 1986, aims at providing a judgement about the fisheries in the Celtic Sea. This area has been chosen because it is frequented by EEC vessels with, for the time being, a large majority of French vessels. Activities there are easier to monitor than anywhere else as coastal fisheries are little developed in the area. The final product will consist of a certain number of hypotheses about the planning strategies that could be implemented in the Celtic Sea. | The scientific cruise Observhal96 took place in August 4-27, 1996 with the underwater system for exploration and intervention « Cyana » and the support vessel « Suroît ». The goal of this IFREMER first use of a man opereted submersible for a fisheries study was to observe fishes and invertebrates in their environment, as well as fishing gears in operation. All the dives, 2 to 5 hours long, took place off Brittany in Atlantic. Five were shalower than 100 meters, nine between 100 and 200 meters, one at 400 meters and for deeper than 1000 meters. | The aim of the project "rationalization of biological sampling for stock assessment of marine fisheries in the bay of Biscay" is to perform statistical methods and computer programs allowing to test prognoses and diagnoses based on estimates of fishing mortalities, recruitments, yields per recruit, and the "gain-loss" function. The project gathers the laboratories of the community working on the Bay of Biscay fisheries, namely - Santander in Spain (1. E. 0) - La Rochelle and Lorient in France (IFREMER). | Ce travail m'a été confié par M. GLEMAREC dans le cadre du contrat n° 73, passé avec le C.N.E.X.O., contrat qui s'insère dans le schéma d'Aménagement du Littoral Breton. La Laboratoire d'Océanographie Biologique de l'Université de Brest ayant établi des cartes biosédimentaires du littoral ouest et sud de Bretagne, il a été jugé utile de chiffrer les activités des pêches côtières et de les surimposer sur ces cartes. A titre expérimental, le quartier maritime de Concarneau a été choisi, étant donnée la diversité des types de pêches, les fonds étant parallèlement les plus variés qui puissent être sur le littoral breton.
