Abstract. The emissions of nitrous oxide (N2O) and leaching of nitrate (NO3) have considerable negative impacts on climate and the environment. Although these environmental burdens are on average less per unit area in organic than in non-organic production, they are not smaller per unit of product. If organic farming is to maintain its goal of being an environmentally friendly production system, these emissions should be mitigated. We discuss the impact of possible triggers within organic arable farming practice for the risk of N2O emissions and NO3 leaching under European climatic conditions, and possible strategies to reduce these. 25 sorter og foredlingslinjer av vårhvete ble sammenliknet i feltforsøk på to lokaliteter i Nord-Trøndelag i 2017 og 2018, med økologiske dyrkingsbetingelser. Utvalget inneholdt sorter som er i bruk i økologisk dyrking til håndverksbaking i Trøndelag (Dala landhvete, Fram II), enkelte andre eldre norske sorter (Norrøna, Møystad, Runar), to svenske sorter med litt annen glutenkvalitet enn moderne norsk hvete (Polkka, Sport), og Mirakel og Seniorita som var vanlige handelssorter i Norge i 2017 og 2018. I tillegg undersøkte vi 16 foredlingslinjer fra Graminor. Tre av disse var valgt ut fordi de har vist gode resultater under økologiske dyrkingsbetingelser på Østlandet. In cereal production on stockless organic farms, green manure (GM) is commonly used to improve soil fertility. The clover-grass swards are mown frequently and the herbage is commonly mulched. The purpose of this study was to increase knowledge of the N-dynamics in such rotations, in order to suggest methods for improving N efficiency and thus organic cereal yields. The hypothesis was that spring application of biogas residue from anaerobic digestion of GM herbage increases the N uptake and yield of a subsequent barley crop, compared with repeatedly in situ mulching of the same GM herbage in the preceding season. Målet med denne undersøkinga var å samanlikna den bakteriologiske kvaliteten, inkludert førekomsten av visse patogen, av økologisk dyrka salat gjødsla med ulike typar storfegjødsel. Feltforsøk med isbergsalat ( Lactuca sativavar. Crispum, ’Iglo’) vart utført i 2001 og 2002. Behandlingane var blautgjødsel, fastgjødsel, kompostert storfegjødsel og mineralgjødsel. Prøvar av jord, gjødsel, gjødsla jord, oppalsplantar, salat og dei ytre blada av salatplantane (i 2002) vart analysert for indikatorbakteriar for fekal forureining (termotolerante koliforme bakteriar (TKB) og Escherichia coli), E. coli O157:H7, Salmonella spp. og L. monocytogenes. In repeatedly mown and mulched green manure leys, the mulched herbage contains substantial amounts of nitrogen (N), which may only slightly contribute to the following crops’ nutrient demand. The objective of the present work was to evaluate the effect of alternative strategies for green manure management on the yield and N recovery of a subsequent spring barley crop, and their short term effects on soil structure and earthworm populations. A field trial was run from 2008 to 2011 at four sites with contrasting soils under cold climate conditions. We evaluated the effects of various strategies for green manure management, including biogas production and using the herbage-based digestate as fertilizer, on the yield and N recovery of a subsequent spring barley crop. Of the various green manure herbage measures tested, the digestate strategy was be the most promising option with regard to reduced risk of N losses and improved N recovery by a subsequent spring barley crop. Removal of the herbage reduces the risk of N losses from the crop rotation, since such losses are highly dependent upon the N input and weather conditions. This study suggests that fundamental model changes are needed for simulating the effects of low temperatures on N mineralization from fresh plant material. |

Det er ingen norsk foredling for økologiske kornsorter, men både Graminor og NIBIO tester aktuelt nytt sortsmateriale også underøkologiske dyrkingsbetingelser. Denne fila er et resultat av flittig arbeid gjennom en årrekke ved NIBIO Apelsvoll,der forsker Mauritz Åssveen, som har vært ansvarlig for verdiprøvinger av linjer og sorter av korn, også siden 1990-tallet har testet ulike kornsorter under økologiske dyrkingsbetingelser.Gjennom prosjektet "Kvalitetskorn" (2016-2019) fikk NORSØK og NIBIO Tingvoll anledning tilå gå gjennom disse resultatene for flere år, og samle dem for hver enkelt sort. Sorteneer presentert alfabetisk. For noen sorter er det mange år med resultaterog mange ulike forsøkfelt, mens andre sorter ikke har et like fyldig... |
