The IFREMER'S REMORA network which has in charge to survey the oysters Crassostrea gigas in France, has showed an increase of the infestation of oysters since 1993 (first year of the network). Paraonella subantarctica n. sp. is described from sandy bottoms of subantarctic islands studied during the océanographic expedition MD/08 BENTHOS. Paraonella subantarctica n. sp. is compared with the other species of the genus Paraonella, Strelzov, 1973 and differs in having four prebranchial segments and 9 to 11 branchial segments. The collection consists of 321 specimens belonging to 27 species, of which nine have not been reported previously from Mauritania, together with Marphysa mauritanica nov. spec.
