Modelling P Dynamics in soil - Decomposition and Sorption: Concepts and User Manual Organic Eprints
Gjettermann, Birgitte.
Weather-driven simulation modelling has become an important component of studies of soil nu-trients, both for crop growth and for losses by leaching to the environment. In order to model phosphorus (P) dynamics in soil, the mobilisation and immobilisation processes of inorganic and organic P species is important for quantifying P leaching from the unsaturated zone. The mobilization and immobilisation processes of P are represented in this project by sorption and desorption of P and by decomposition of organic matter with mineralization and immobilisation of P. The code/model presented here, referred to as the P-Model, works with another model, called Daisy. The Daisy code delivers input data of water content, water flux, temperature, inorganic nitrogen...

Sorption of dissolved organic C and P to agricultural top- and subsoil Organic Eprints
Gjettermann, Birgitte; Styczen, Merete; Hansen, Søren; Borggaard, Ole K.; Hansen, Hans C.B..
In order to study the mobility of dissolved organic carbon (DOC) and dissolved organic P (DOP) in soil, the pH-dependent sorption of dissolved organic matter to an agricultural top- and subsoil was investigated. In general, sorption isotherms had convex shapes and DOC and DOP sorption increased with time of reaction. There was a very pronounced effect of pH resulting in much higher sorption of DOC at pH 5 than at pH 7; actually extensive desorption was observed at pH 7 especially for the topsoil. Similar sorption patterns were observed for DOP, but they were not as pronounced as for DOC.

Modeling dissolved organic matter mobilization and immobilization in the root zone: Effect of soil treatment on denitrification and N leaching Organic Eprints
Gjettermann, Birgitte.
This report summarizes the technical description of a code/model concept simulating mobilization and immobilization of dissolved organic matter (DOM) in the Daisy model. This report also describes the simulated effects of duration of grass-clover, time of soil ploughing, and catch crops on denitrification and N leaching.
