| An operational oceanographic system is being developed in France to monitor and forecast ocean behavior. It is composed of three projects: - Sea-surface observation using satellite sensors, - ln situ measurements from ships, moored or drifting autonomous systems, - Assimilation of in-situ and satellite data in an ocean circulation modal. Coriolis contributes to the in situ part of this system,with the objective of developing continuous,automatic,and permanent observation networks. | La campagne Romanche 2 s'est déroulée du 12 novembre au 2 décembre 1992, de Dakar (Sénégal) à Douala (Cameroun), à bord du navire de recherche de l'Ifremer L'Atalante. Romanche 2, deuxième campagne dans le cadre du projet Romanche, avait pour but la mise à l'eau de huit mouillages de courantométrie dans les zones de fracture de l'Atlantique équatorial Romanche et Chain. Cela a été l'occasion de compléter la description de l'hydrologie de ces zones de fracture, initiée lors de la campagne Romanche1 (Mercier et al., Campagne Romanche1, Données CTDO2, Chimie et Bathymétrie, rapport interne LPO, 92-02). | La collecte systématique des mesures de température et de salinité de surface par les navires de recherche a été initiée en 1999, lors de la phase pilote du projet Coriolis. Aujourd'hui tous les navires hauturiers sont dotés de systèmes homogènes, qualifiés et suivis, ils transmettent leurs données en temps réel au centre de données Coriolis et des échantillons d'eau de mer sont régulièrement prélevés à bord puis acheminés vers le laboratoire d'analyse. Malgré le soin accordé à l'étalonnage des systèmes de mesure et leur nettoyage régulier, il est fréquent d'observer une dérive dans la mesure de conductivité. | Ce document présente la chaîne de traitement des données acquises par un courantomètre à effet DOPPLER (ADCP : Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler) BB-150 KHz de marque RDI, fixé à une bathysonde afin d'obtenir des profils de courant absolu de la surface au fond de l'océan. La conception de ce logiciel a été initiée par I.Ogier3, élève à l'ISITV4, au cours d'un stage de fin d'année, au printemps 1995, au centre ORSTOM de Cayenne. | French Research vessels have been collecting thermo-salinometer (TSG) data since 1999 to contribute to the Global Ocean Surface Underway Data (GOSUD) programme. The instruments are regularly calibrated and continuously monitored. Water samples are taken on a daily basis by the crew and later analysed in the laboratory. We present here the delayed mode processing of the 2001–2013 dataset and an overview of the resulting quality. Salinity measurement error was a few hundredths of a unit or less on the practical salinity scale (PSS), due to careful calibration and instrument maintenance, complemented with a rigorous adjustment on water samples. | Hydrographic (0-1000 dbar) and direct current measurements (0-600 dbar) along 165-degrees-E (20-degrees-S-10-degrees-N) between January 1984 and July 1991 are used to investigate the mean circulation and its relationships with the distributions of salinity and potential vorticity on isopycnal surfaces. Less well documented mean sections along 142-degrees-E and 137-degrees-E are used to complement the 165-degrees-E analysis. The Equatorial Undercurrent is centered on the equator at 165-degrees-E and on 0.5-degrees-N at 142-degrees-E. No variation in its transport (15.0 x 10(6) m3 s-1) is found between those longitudes. | The seven French agencies concerned by ocean research are developing together a strong capability in operational oceanography based on a triad including satellite altimetry (JASON), numerical modelling with assimilation (MERCATOR), and in-situ data (CORIOLIS). The CORIOLIS project aims to build a pre-operational structure to collect, validate and distribute ocean data (temperature/salinity profiles and currents) to the scientific community and modellers. | Les travaux présentés dans ce rapport ont été réalisés dans le cadre d’un « réseau bleu Coriolis ». Le comité scientifique MERCATOR/CORIOLIS de mai 2003 avait alors souligné la nécessité de soutenir les actions de validation des mesures issues des thermosalinographes (TSG) installés sur les navires de recherche labellisés Coriolis et les navires de l’ORE/SSS, afin d’aboutir à la définition d’une procédure homogène qui pourrait être mise en place en mode opérationnel par CORIOLIS.
