A MEZŐGAZDASÁGI JÖVEDELMEK AZ EURÓPAI UNIÓ TAGÁLLAMAIBAN AgEcon
Hantos, Krisztina.
A számítások rendkívül pozitív képet mutatnak a mezőgazdaság jövedelme-zőségéről 2004-ben, az újonnan csatlakozó országok mindegyikében. A jövede-lemnövekedés hátterében egyrészt a nagyobb átlaghozamok állnak – melyek a rendkívül kedvező időjárási feltételeknek köszönhetők –, másrészt az előző évihez képest mintegy 73%-kal megemelkedett uniós támogatások. - Calculations present an extremely positive picture of agricultural profitability in 2004 in each of the new accession states. In the background to income growth lies greater average yields on the one hand – the result of exceptionally favourable weather conditions – and on the other, the ca. 73% increase in EU subsidies in comparison to the previous year.

The impact of crop protection on agricultural production AgEcon
Popp, Jozsef; Hantos, Krisztina.
Chemical pesticides will continue to play a role in pest management for the future. In many situations, the benefits of pesticide use are high relative to the risks or there are no practical alternatives. The number and diversity of biological sources will increase, and products that originate in chemistry laboratories will be designed for particular target sites. Innovations in pesticide delivery systems in plants promise to reduce adverse environmental impacts even further. The correct use of pesticides can deliver significant socioeconomic and environmental benefits in the form of safe, healthy, affordable food; and enable sustainable farm management by improving the efficiency with which we use natural resources such as soil, water and overall land...

Keeping young farmers in rural areas AgEcon
Hantos, Krisztina.
Agricultural subsidies alone cannot solve the aging problem of rural areas. In some cases enthusiasm is not enough, because a lack of financial resources prevents young farmers from launching enterprises. Isolation, lack of information and subsistence insecurity are all problems faced by young farmers, which need to be managed. It would be reasonable to extend the support scheme provided for new enterprises to also include those farms which have already been launched, but have not yet reached the size considered viable. Considering that the subsidies involve retrospective financing and that the majority of young farmers are lacking capital, increasing the amount of the advance payment would also be recommended. Young farmers could be further supported by...
