| A survey of the underground waters of Southeastern Spain has established the presence of anophtalmous and unpigmented Asellids in many localities. Six new endemic species Proasellus are named and defined by the structures of their sexual pleopods: P. bellesi n.sp. (Rio Guadalhorce drainage, Province of Málaga); P. escolai n.sp. (Rio Genil, Granada); P. espanoli n.sp. (Rio Fardes, Granada); P. lagari n.sp. (Rio Argos, Murcia) and P. margalefi n.sp. (Rio Turia, Valencia). These forms are related to the oculated and pigmented species Proasellus meridianus (Racovitza, 1919).
