The distribution of Digitaria ischaemum (Schreb.) Miihlenb., D. sanguinalis (L.)P.B., Echinochloa crus-galli (L.)P.B., Setaria glauca I (L.)P.B.and S. viridisi (L.)P.B. in the province of Zeeland is described and discussed. These species were mostly rare or absent in this region until 1950, but are now more or less common especially along some main roads where conditions seem to be optimal for these thermophylic plants. Also the distribution of Eragrostis multicaulis Steud., E. poaeoides P.B., Panicum miliaceum I -, Setaria verticillata (L.) P.B. and Sorghum halepense (L.) Pers. is given and discussed. Some aspects of the ecology of E. poaeoides are added. The author proposes to insert S. halepense in the Standardlist of the Netherlands Flora 1985 as a... |

As additions to a previous paper by the same author (Jongepier, 1982) some new localities, mostly in the province of Zeeland, are given for Eragrostis minor Host, E. pilosa (L.)Beauv., Setaria glauca (L.) Beauv., S. verlicillata (L.) Beauv. and Sorghum halepense (L.) Pers., based on records during 1982. Eragrostis pilosa appears now to be almost as common as E. minor in this part of the Netherlands. Some remarks on Setaria italica (L.) Beauv., an alien grass that was not discussed in 1982, are added. This species was found rather often along some main roads in Zeeland in the last few years, but naturalization is not yet evident. |

A survey is presented of the vegetation of the Netherlands part of the phytogeographical Flanders District. Apart from the small wetland area ‘Kriekeputten’ very little of the original vegetation is left. 85 Taxa are considered characteristic for the Flanders District in the province of Zeeland. Before the inventory work of A. de Visser started, already 20 species became extinct in the area. In the last 15 years another 13 species have vanished. All 33 species are characteristic of soils poor in nutrients or of oligotrophic waters. Most of the remaining characteristic species are threatened. |
