An study of the Ekman transport in the adjacient oceanic region to the suroccidental shelf of the gulf of Batabanó between 82,5º and 81,5º of west longitude and 21,5º and 19,5º of north latitude it was carried out. This is a zone of great importance of being one of the main sites of pueruli onshore to the shelf shallow waters. The monthly analysis of the transport between 1967 and 2006 establishes water onshore to the shelf, with remarkable increases related to the influence of hurricanes Gilbert (1988), Mitch (1998), Iván and Charlie (2004) and Olga (2007). The seasonal pattern showed values superior to the averages from September to November, which indicates greater oceanic water offshore, related with greater pueruli entrance.
