| This document gives a summary of the French oceanographic cruises undertaken in 2007. Presented as a synopsis, it replaces the traditional "Compendium of French oceanographic cruises" that was published yearly until 2007. The Compendium presented a report from each cruise and constituted a voluminous document of more than 200 pages, but nevertheless non-exhaustive because the data is continuously updated. In its new form, the summary describes in detail SISMER's role in archiving cruise reports and oceanographic data. It presents a global vision of the research vessels that comprise the French oceanographic fleet and their utilisation.
