The process of organizational change constitutes a highly complex theme due to the a host of both internal and external organizational factors that may cause changes to be either facilitated or restricted. This piece of work is directed to an analysis on the factors which determine the competitiveness in te coffee agro-business in the southern portion of the state of Minas Gerais. The “Diamond”model, as described by Michael E. Porter, which preconizes a group of four determinating factors which contribute for the development of international competitivity of a given industrial activity, was used in the study. The results allow to state that such determinating factors do contribute positively for the development of competitiveness of coffee agro-business organizations in the south of Minas Gerais. |

In this paper a small and medium size firm’s network governance structure and social mechanisms of coordination were studied in the light of the model proposed by Jones et al. (1997). The governance is considered a capable tool to regulate any instability originating from divergences, trying to keep the harmony and to strengthen the trust ties within the inter-organizational networks. A case study data analysis was carried out. In so doing, the associated members and the network’s manager were interviewed. The dynamics of the network reveals some practices and elements linked with social control mechanisms such as actor’s reputation, entrant members restrict access, macro-culture and the collective sanctions over individual members.
