Lindeman, J.C.; Donselaar, J. van.
At present 38 species of Rhynchospora, now including also Dichromena, are known from Suriname, two of which with two varieties. Two new species are described here: Rh. guianensis and Rh. sublanata. Preliminary survey of the vegetation types of northern Suriname Naturalis
Lindeman, J.C.; Moolenaar, S.P..

Lindeman, J.C.; Mennega, A.M.W..
The aim of this book is to provide all persons interested in the tree and wood species of Suriname with a simple means to find the name of a given tree. To this end two dichotomous keys have been drawn up with the help of punched cards prepared from studies of conserved material and field observations made by the authors. The first one makes use only of vegetative characters of leaves and twigs and a few saliant features of the bark, disregarding flower and fruit characters mostly used in floras. The second key is based on the anatomy of the wood as far as this can be observed with a good 10 X or sometimes 20 X magnifying hand-lens. In the “Inleiding” the terminology applied in each of the keys and in the descriptions is explained and elucidated by sketch...

The vegetation of the Coastal Region of Suriname. Results of the scientific expedition to Suriname 1948—49 botanical series No. 1 Naturalis
Lindeman, J.C..
The data on which this study is based, were gathered during a scientific expedition which lasted from September 1948 to May 1949. The author had accepted an invitation to join Prof. J. LANJOUW who on this expedition was entrusted with the botanical part of the investigations. They worked in close contact with the other staff members, the zoologists Dr D. C. GEIJSKES and P. H. CREUTZBERG, and the geo-morphologists Prof. J. P. BAKKER and Dr A. BEOUWER. Especially the cooperation with the latter group proved to be of prime importance for the study of the vegetation. For more general Information with regard to the aims and scope of this expedition the reader is referred to the preliminary report (26).

The two lowest scales (glumes) empty, rarely wanting; the following scales (lemmas) bearing in their axil an usually enclosed prophyll (palea) and a perfect or reduced flower. Lemma, palea and flower together forming the floret. Perfect flower consisting of 2—3 hyaline or fleshy lodicules, usually 3 (1—6) stamens and a pistil....
