Long-term continuous cropping of cotton had led to substantial agricultural losses. However, continuous cotton cropping could maintain high crop yields for many years in some areas. The composition and structure of soil nematode communities were investigated to explore the effect of continuous cropping and soil depths on these communities. Soil samples were collected at two soil depths (0-20 cm and 20-40 cm) from cotton fields with a history of 5, 10, 15 or 20 years of continuous cotton cropping in the Karamay region. The results showed that 36 genera were found. Significant differences in the numbers of total nematodes and trophic groups were observed among continuous cropping times. The highest number of total nematodes was observed at 20-40 cm depth... |

ABSTRACT Animal lysozymes, which have been studied in many of invertebrate and vertebrate species, have been characterized and demonstrated to be immune-associated molecules, digestive enzymes and multifunctional molecules. The purpose of this study was to detect the connection between lysozyme-gene polymorphism and the production traits of a Chinese native chicken breed (Langshan chicken). Four single nucleotide mutation sites were identified: G345A, C1726T, G1836A, A1838G. By the linkage disequilibrium analysis, six haplotypes and 15haplotype combinations were depicted in the studied population. The statistical analysis demonstrated that the SNPs and the haplotype combinations are related to body weight at sixteen weeks of age in Langshan chickens... |

ABSTRACT The objective of this study was to analyse the impact of dietary vitamin E supplementation on laying performance, serum reproductive hormones concentration and gene expression in ovary and follicles of anti-season breeding goose. A total of 210 anti-season breeding geese were divided into seven treatments with six replications. Each group was supplied with diets containing different vitamin E (DL-α-tocopherol acetate) contents (0, 10, 20, 40, 80, 160, 320mg/kg). We observed that the egg production and laying rate improved significantly at doses of 10 and 80 mg/kg, while the highest egg weight appeared in the 320 mg/kg group. Meantime, 80 mg/kg of vitamin E supplementation significantly improved the concentration of follicle-stimulating hormone... |
