The route of the Netherlands Biological Expedition to Turkey in 1959 is published elsewhere (Hennipman a.o., 1961; Anonymus, 1963). As is mentioned there also, the zoological material collected is preserved in the Rijksmuseum van Natuurlijke Historie at Leiden. I am greatly indebted to Dr. C. O. van Regteren Altena, curator of that Museum, for placing the Clausiliidae collected by the expedition at my disposal. Moreover my thanks are due to Mrs. W. S. S. van der Feen-van Benthem Jutting, Amsterdam, and Dr. A. Zilch, Frankfurt am Main, for specimens lent for the purpose of comparison. The Clausiliidae were all collected by Mr. W. J. M. Vader, one of the members of the expedition. Only one sample is from Greece (Porto Lagos), the others are from Istanbul,... |

Since the publication of my monograph of the Indo-Australian Clausiliidae (Loosjes, 1953) I obtained some additional information, consisting mainly of new distribution records and data on shell-structures. The present paper deals with these additional data, while furthermore two new species are described. The specimens concerned were obtained on loan from the following Museums: Zoölogisch Museum, Amsterdam (Z.M.A.), Rijks Museum van Natuurlijke Historie, Leiden (R.M.N.H.), Museo Civico di Storia Naturale di Genova (M.C.G.), Natur-Museum Senckenberg, Frankfurt am Main (S.M.F.), Ueberseemuseum, Bremen (U.M.B.). My thanks are due to Mrs. W. S. S. van der Feen-van Benthem Jutting, Dr. C. O. van Regteren Altena, Prof. Dr. E. Tortonese, Dr. A. Zilch, Dr. H.... |

Some time ago Prof. Dr. W. Weyrauch at Lima, Peru, sent to me specimens of a species of the subfamily Neniinae that proved to be new to science. Already about 70 species of the subfamily have become known from Peru, for an important part discovered by Prof. Weyrauch himself. Andinia (Ehrmanniella) flammulata spec. nov. (Figs. 1, 2) Diagnosis. A small, rather fusiform species of the subgenus Ehrmanniella Zilch. The decollated shell is provided with rather irregular fine white striae. Especially below the suture these striae are thickened, strikingly white, and arranged in groups of about 5 to 15 on low nodules. These nodules alternate with brown, quite smooth, malleated patches. At some distance it looks like small white and brown areas running obliquely... |

During the zoological exploration of Netherlands New Guinea sponsored by the Rijksmuseum van Natuurlijke Historie, Leiden, in 1954-1955, four specimens of Clausiliidae were found. There are no previous records of the occurrence of Clausiliidae in New Guinea; the most eastern locality in the Indo-Australian region from which this family of snails was known is the island of Halmahera, in the Moluccas (Loosjes, 1953, p. 209). Paraphaedusa minahassae (P. & F. Sarasin, 1899) Sarasin, 1899, p. 218, pl. 26 figs. 267-268. Ehrmann in Zilch, 1949, p. 77, pl. 4 fig. 10. Loosjes, 1953. P. 137, fig. 38. The specimens show the characters as they are typical of the species, but the aperture of some of the shells is somewhat narrower than usual, and the right upper... |

INTRODUCTION In this paper the Clausiliidae collection of the Institutul de Speologie "Emil Racovitza" at Bucharest, Romania, is dealt with. The specimens are from 68 localities of the Karst regions of Romania. They were collected in caves or in the direct neighbourhood of caves, between 1956 and 1965 by S. Avram, A. Bălăcescu, D. Dancău, V. Decu, M. Dumitrescu, M. Georgescu, A. Negrea, St. Negrea, T. Orghidan, E. Serban, I. Tăbăcaru and J. Tanasache. Twenty four species, subspecies or varieties could be identified. Among these one species was found to be new to science, viz. Laciniaria (Bulgarica) dobrogensis sp. nov., which is described in this paper. Boettger (1940), Grossu (1943, 1955, 1964) and Negrea (1962, 1963, 1964, 1965, 1966) published on the... |
