Discrepant and incomplete interpretations of fruits of Pterodon have been published, especially on the structural interpretation of the pericarp portion that remain attached to the seed upon dispersal. The present work clarified these doubts and analyzed ultrastructural aspects of the Pterodon emarginatus diaspores using light and transmission electron microscopes. Cell divisions are prevalent among the initial phases of development, and the subadaxial and adaxial meristems form the fibrous inner mesocarp and the endocarp composed of multi-seriate epidermis, respectively. Styrax camporum is a common shrub species from the cerrado regions of São Paulo State, Brazil. Although its leaves do not have a morphologically delimited pulvinus, the apical leaves are oriented parallel to the sun (paraheliotropic leaves), most notably around noon. Horizontal leaves at the base of shoots are oriented perpendicular to the sun's rays (diaheliotropic leaves). The ecophysiological significance of this is not fully understood. Robinson (Asteraceae), conhecida como yacon, é uma espécie herbácea de clima tropical de altitude, tendo sido introduzida em diversos países, incluindo o Brasil, devido ao seu potencial alimentício, forrageiro e, principalmente, como substrato para a produção de inulina. Embora aspectos agronômicos e bioquímicos desta planta sejam relativamente conhecidos, pouco se sabe a respeito da morfologia e natureza do sistema subterrâneo, principal fonte de inulina. A fim de detectar o período de manifestação dos sintomas de lanosidade e compreender melhor as alterações celulares que acompanham a injúria causada pelo frio, foram analisados dois cultivares de pêssegos: 'Aurora-1' (não sensível ao frio) e 'Dourado-2' (sensível ao frio), durante o armazenamento refrigerado a 3 ºC seguido da comercialização simulada por dois dias a 25 ºC. Foram feitas análises aos microscópios fotônico e eletrônico de transmissão. O mesocarpo dos pêssegos, no momento da colheita, foi anatomicamente similar e apresentou células parenquimáticas túrgidas isodiamétricas de tamanhos variáveis arranjadas com amplos espaços intercelulares. This is a comparative study of the ultrastructural characteristics of the cells involved in the organogenesis in vitro of Bauhinia forficata Link (indirect system) and Glycine max (L.) Merrill (direct system). B. forficata calli after 30 days culture and G. max meristemoids after 10 days culture were prepared for ultrastructural analysis using conventional methods. Concentrically arranged rough endoplasmic reticulum (RER) and plastids containing starch grains were seen during G. max and B. forficata organogenesis. The amitotic process, the presence of plastids around the nucleus and nuclear envelope with conspicuous pores were found in B. forficata.
