| This reports presents the findings of the Phase II study of the AGRIDIV project (Identification of pulling factors for enhancing sustainable development of diverse agriculture in selected Asian Countries), which provides a descriptive and quantitative assessment of the performance of secondary crops-based farming systems and their horizontal integration in relation to private sectors processing and institutional arrangements. The study will clarify the impact of diversification and policy analysis from a farmer, consumer and industry perspective. |

| This report presents the findings of phase I of the study, which provides a descriptive and quantitative analysis of the current status of CGPRT crops and identifies the constraints faced in developing diverse agriculture in Sri Lanka. Assessing the socio-economic impacts of recent developments in Sri Lanka, including trade liberalization on the production of CGPRT crops, and the identification of constraints and opportunities towards the sustainable development of diverse agriculture for poverty alleviation was the primary objective of this study. Ten major CGPRT crops grown in Sri Lanka were studied in detail in relevance to agricultural diversification and poverty alleviation. Key Words: diversification, food crops, agriculture, poverty |
