Cytoplasmic Genetic Male Sterile (CMS) line is the mainly used as female parent (A line) in F1 hybrid rice seed production. Usually A-lines used in hybrid rice seed production are exotic lines. Since they are poor adapt to local environment. This research was therefore conducted at Pathumthani Rice Research Center in 2008 with aimed to develop CMS or A lines in Thai rice from improved B lines through backcrossing method for 6 cycles. The result revealed that there were 7 A and B promising lines; PTTHR08002A/B, PTTHR08035A/B, PTTHR08077A/B, PTTHR08191A/B, PTTHR08193A/B, PTTHR08195A/B and PTTHR08200A/B, performed as possibly used in hybrid rice program. And found that two of these; PTTHIR08002A/B and PTTHIR08077A/B showed 42 and 19 percentages of seed sets... |
