Inoculation of soybean seeds coated with osmoprotector in diferents soil pH's Agronomy
Stecca, Jéssica Deolinda Leivas; Martin, Thomas Newton; Lúcio, Alessandro Dall´Coll; Deak, Evandro Ademir; Fipke, Glauber Monçon; Bruning, Lucas Allan.
Inoculation with nitrogen-fixing bacteria (Bradyrhizobium) is an indispensable technology to increase the productivity of the soybean crop. The objective of this study was to evaluate the viability of the inoculation with Bradyrizobium bacteria associated with the osmoprotector coating on different pre-sowing days and the effect of different soil pH on the components of yield, nodulation and grain yield of soybean. Two soybean cultivars were used, sown in two seasons and submitted to soil pH of 5.3 and 6.5. The seeds were inoculated at different pre-sowin periods with Bradyrizobium bacteria in the presence or absence of osmoprotectants. In the cultivar NA 5909RG (pH 5.3), the seeds inoculated with Bradyrhizobium and osmoprotector, at four and seven days...

Inoculation with Azospirillum brasilense on corn yield and yield components in an integrated crop-livestock system Agronomy
Schaefer, Paulo Eugênio; Martin, Thomas Newton; Pizzani, Rodrigo; Schaefer, Elton Luiz.
Inoculation of corn with diazotrophic bacteria reduces the need for nitrogen fertilization and mitigates environmental contamination risks due to the bacteria’s biological nitrogen-fixation capacity. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the effect of corn seed inoculation with Azospirillum brasilense under different nitrogen levels and post-grazing residual heights. The experiment was performed in two growing seasons and conducted in an integrated crop-livestock system for the 2014/15 and 2015/16. A factorial randomized block experimental design with sub-divided plots and three factors. The main plots varied in post-grazing residual height (0.10, 0.20, 0.30 m, continuous grazing, or no grazing), the subplots varied in inoculation (with or without...

Economic recommendations for reseeding wheat crops Agronomy
Martin, Thomas Newton; Fros, Luis Antonio Saccol; Nunes, Ubirajara Russi; Marchesan, Enio; Stecca, Jessica Deolinda Leivas; Cunha, Vinicius dos Santos.
There are several factors that may compromise the initial establishment of wheat crops, reduce the plant populations, and consequently affect yield components and grain yield. The objective of this study was to produce reseeding recommendations for wheat crops affected by reduced plant stands based on an economic analysis of the yield cost and the expectation of financial return. Experiments were conducted during two agricultural years (2011 and 2012) in the Experimental da Coxilha area, which belongs to the Department of Plant Science of Universidade Federal de Santa Maria, in the state of Rio Grande do Sul (Brazil). Random removals of wheat plants were undertaken, corresponding to 0, 20, 40, and 60% of the initial population of plants for the following...

Mineral supplementation of soybean seeds with different initial nutrient levels Agronomy
Conceição, Gerusa Massuquini; Cunha, Vinícius dos Santos; Fipke, Glauber Monçon; Bruning, Lucas Allan; Rossato, Anderson da Costa; Martin, Thomas Newton.
The objectives of this study were to evaluate the effect of the chemical composition of soybean seeds and the efficiency of seed mineral supplementation on physiological quality and field performance. Two seed lots (high and low levels of mineral nutrition), with or without supplemental macro- and micronutrients, of three soybean cultivars (BMX Potência RR, BMX Turbo RR, and BMX Magna RR) were used. For the laboratory experiment, a completely randomized design with four replications was used. To evaluate the physiological quality of the seeds, the water content, first count, germination, 1,000-seed weight, and length and dry weight of the seedling were determined. For the field experiment, a randomized block design with four replications was used, and...

Components of corn crop yield under inoculation with Azospirillum brasilense using integrated crop-livestock system Agronomy
Brum, Marcos da Silva; Cunha, Vinícius Dos Santos; Stecca, Jéssica Deolinda Leivas; Grando, Luiz Fernando Teleken; Martin, Thomas Newton.
The objective of this study was to evaluate the agronomic characteristics of corn seed inoculated with Azospirillum brasilense, grown on black oat and ryegrass straw, and managed under different grazing strategies and doses of nitrogen. The experiment was conducted in Santa Maria, Rio Grande do Sul State, Brazil, during two agricultural seasons (2012/2013 and 2013/2014) in a randomized, complete block design with three replications. In the winter period, black oat and ryegrass straw were managed at different grazing heights by sheep (0.30, 0.20, 0.10 m, conventional grazing, and no grazing) with three doses of nitrogen (0, 50, and 100 kg ha-1, with or without inoculation by A. brasilense). We used the hybrid Pioneer (P1630H®) in 2012 and the hybrid...
