| This study cornes after a preceding work (Bourlon, 1995), which pro vides an analysis of the fishery system of the "Pertuis Charentais" sea. The exploitation system was srudied more thoroughly, going further on sorne of the results of the preceding work and gathering data by survey. Investigations on accounts of fishing boats were carried out to link the economie factors to sociologie criteria. In order to know the different strategies of exploitation, two Ievels were examined in the study : the social environment of the exploitation units wich has familial, geographie and communal features and the behaviour of the exploitation chief.
