Studies on Conidae (Mollusca, Gastropoda) 1. Conus papuensis and C. kintoki, two new species from deeper water in the western Pacific Naturalis
Coomans, H.E.; Moolenbeek, R.G..
Conus papuensis nov. spec, was dredged in Hansa Bay, New Guinea, between 60 and 90 m. The shell has a superficial likeness to C. filicinctus Schepman, 1913, from Indonesia. Conus kintoki nov. spec. was a nomen nudum since 1970 and is validated here. This species is living around the Philippines between 100 and 200 m. It was incorrectly united with C. berdulinus Veillard, 1972 from the Indian Ocean.

Studies on Conidae (Mollusca, Gastropoda) 2. Conus pusio Sowerby I (non Hwass) and C. melvilli Sowerby III Naturalis
Moolenbeek, R.G.; Coomans, H.E..
The holotype of Conus pusio Sowerby I, 1834, is traced in the National Museum of Wales. This specimen also represents the holotype of C. melvilli Sowerby III, 1879, which fact makes both taxa objective synonyms. Since the name C. pusio is preoccupied by Hwass, 1792, the valid name for the species is C. melvilli. The holotype is a unique specimen; although mentioned from Key West, its locality is unknown. Conus melvilli “Sowerby” in Perry, 1939, from Florida was renamed C. perryae Clench, 1942.

Hummelinckiella borinquensis, a new genus and species in the subfamily Stephopominae (Caenogastropoda: Siliquariidae) with notes on the genera Caporbis and Stephopoma and the “Blasian subregion” Naturalis
Faber, M.J.; Moolenbeek, R.G..
A new genus and species, Hummelinckiella borinquensis n.gen. & n.sp. has been discovered in sediments from shallow water off Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, and Grand Turk (Turks & Caicos Islands). Because of the striking sculpture of its protoconch, it is placed in a new genus of the subfamily Stephopominae. The only other known western Atlantic member of the Stephopominae is Stephopoma myrakeenae Olsson & McGinty, 1958 recorded from the eastern Caribbean (Leeward Islands), herewith invalidating the “paciphile” status of this species and genus, and casting doubts on the value of the “Blasian Subregion”, indicated by Petuch (1990) as a biogeographical unit.

On the identity of ‘Columbella rustica’ from West Africa and the Macaronesian islands Naturalis
Moolenbeek, R.G.; Hoenselaar, H.J..
Difference in protoconch structure is the reason to consider Columbella rustica (Linné, 1758) and Columbella adansoni Menke, 1853 as distinct species. C. adansoni is the East Atlantic species with a planktotrophic larval development, restricted to the Macaronesian islands. Columbella rustica is the Mediterranean and West African species with direct development.

Decline of the Jakarta Bay molluscan fauna linked to human impact Naturalis
Meij, S.E.T. van der; Moolenbeek, R.G.; Hoeksema, B.W..
In 1937/38 representative mollusc collections were made in Jakarta Bay (West Java, Indonesia). New data from here and the adjacent offshore Thousand Islands archipelago (Kepulauan Seribu) became available in 2005. Although collecting efforts and sampling methods differed, a comparison of the molluscan fauna of Jakarta Bay between 1937/38 and 2005 reveals a distinct deterioration. From 1937 to 2005, Jakarta Bay received increasing amounts of sewage from the greater Jakarta area, as well as increased sediment input from the deforested West Java hinterland. Predatory gastropods and numerous mollusc species associated with carbonate (reef) substrate have vanished from Jakarta Bay, among which many edible species.

A new genus and species of Aclididae (Gastropoda) from off Tenerife, Canary Islands Naturalis
Moolenbeek, R.G.; Warén, A..
Dr. Manuel Carrillo Pèrez (Universidad de la Laguna) has sent some dredge-samples to the first author. This material contained many interesting molluscs, not mentioned by Nordsieck & Talavera (1979). Amongst them was a very peculiar gastropod species, which was difficult to identify. Based on some shell characters, it is provisionally clasified with the family Aclididae.

The Lioconcha castrensis species group (Bivalvia : Veneridae), with the description of two new species Naturalis
Meij, S.E.T. van der; Moolenbeek, R.G.; Dekker, H..
Part of the genus Lioconcha Mörch, 1853 is reviewed. Species strongly resembling Lioconcha castrensis (Linnaeus, 1758) are discussed and two new species are described: Lioconcha arabaya n. sp. from the Northwest Indian Ocean and Lioconcha rumphii n. sp. from Thailand and Sumatra. These three species, together with Lioconcha macaulayi Lamprell & Healy, 2002, share many morphological similarities and we suspect them to be closely related. They are referred to as the Lioconcha castrensis species group. Furthermore, lectotypes of Venus castrensis Linnaeus, 1758, and Venus fulminea Röding, 1798, are designated. The latter is considered a junior synonym of V. castrensis.

A new gastropod genus and species from Bonaire, Netherlands Antilles Naturalis
Moolenbeek, R.G.; Faber, M.J..
West Indian molluscs have been studied by the Department of Malacology of the Zoological Museum Amsterdam for many years. Recently new material collected by Brother M. ARNOLDO (A. N. BROEDERS) and Dr. P. WAGENAAR HUMMELINCK became available which was studied by the second author. During 1982 several West Indian islands were visited by the first author, and mollusc samples were taken on the islands Puerto Rico, St. Martin, Aruba, Curaçao and Bonaire. Material was collected in various biotopes, from the littoral zone down to about 50 m. Most of the micro-molluscs were sorted out from coral sand. In a sample, taken at 45 m depth off Bonaire, some interesting species were found. In this article we will describe a new species, belonging to a new genus, from...
