| The increased corn planting grown in the late season crop and the use of a notillage planting system benefits the development of Spodoptera frugiperda, the main pest of corn crop. Thus, this study aimed to select entomopathogenic nematodes based on the mortality of S. frugiperda, and to adjust the nematode concentrations in the laboratory and evaluate the action of these organisms in greenhouse conditions. Seventeen nematode populations were tested at concentrations of 100, 250, and 500 infective juveniles (IJ)/larvae. The obtained data were submitted to the polynomial regression test. | ABSTRACT: The diversity of edaphic mites in Brazilian natural environments is little known, especially in the Pampa biome, in southern region of Brazil. The objective of this study was to evaluate the diversity and abundance of edaphic fauna of mesostigmatid mites in a region of the Pampa biome of the state of Rio Grande do Sul. Soil samples were collected in the municipality of Aceguá, in 2012 and 2013. Mites were extracted using Berlese-Tullgren modified funnels. In total, 1900 mesostigmatid mites were collected, representing 44 species from 23 genera and 10 families. | Este trabalho foi desenvolvido com o objetivo de isolar e identificar bactérias presentes nos solos utilizados como camada de cobertura do cultivo de Agaricus blazei Murril. Foi avaliada a eficiência da desinfestação com vapor d'água e formol nos solos de cobertura. O tratamento com formol apresentou maior redução no número de bactérias na terra de barranco (Latossolo Vermelho distroférrico) e solo de pastagens (Latossolo Amarelo distrófico), enquanto que no solo hidromórfico, oriundo de várzea (Gleissolo Melânico), nenhum dos tratamentos foi eficiente para reduzir a comunidade microbiana.
